The first official Bodgepro Motorkhana was held yesterday at AHG driving centre..
Trophies were awarded for best overall time and Drift King..
Time was judged from when the car crossed the start line to when it came to a complete stop. 2 second penalties were given for each cone hit and any lap time that did not follow the course was not counted.. The best time for each section was taken, then all times were combined for an overall time..
The Drift King trophy was judged by crowd reaction. If the crowd liked what they saw, drift monkeys were awarded accordingly. Any spin would forfeit all drift monkeys for that pass..
Total drift monkeys were calculated at the end of the day..
We had all sorts of cars down: 2x 4age sprinters, 2x silvias/180, an r32 gtr (380awhp), 33 gtr (~450awhp), 2x 4wd liberties, a turbo starlet, an n14 pulsar, an xg work ute, r32 gtst, z30 soarer, 400rwkw vy ute and the curtin uni Formula SAE car..
Winners...Time
1st Coombsy (4wd liberty turbo)
2nd Adam (4age sprinter)
3rd Finnie (4wd liberty N/A)
Winners...Drift
1st Adam (4age sprinter)
2nd Brad (s13 onevia)
=3rd Justin (xg ute) and Mark (vy ute) this was more of a trev award coz the cars were so goddam funny to watch out there..
Some pics to follow..
I also have some videos on the way... I know its a bit odd posting info up now after the event was already run but there were no spots left anyway..
If WA people like what they see here and think they would enjoy doing something similar let me know, if we can get enough people together such a day would be easy to organise..
Also this was my first go at proper motorsport photography, so please let me know what you think, give hints for improvement etc...
cheers

P.S Massive thanks to the Curtin Motorsport team for bringing down their Formula SAE car.. Was a mission to drive that thing in the wet...

how the hell do you drift on a wet surface?!?!? i thought that made control a nightmare!?
massive rezpekt to whoever managed to pull it off
nice pics too!
Elmo.
wow awesome...i can't imagine how u'ld get traction on a wet track like that...my tail was already stepping out in the hot and dry...
Brilliant! when's the next one?

throttle control.... plus traction is overrated... The dude in the yellow onevia has been drifting for about 2 years... My bro has been on and off for around the same... his vid is still being uploaded....
It was slick as fuck out there though... I felt bad for the dudes in utes...

That is absolutely awesome! If they had a day like that over here in Adelaide I would definately take my car. I'd love to get involved in that.
Any vids of the Starlet?
"In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people angry and has widely been regarded as a bad move." -HHGG
nah, no vids of the starlet... i got a couple more but they take over an hour to load..
My cousin in the white z30 soarer had his camera going all day filming the whole track... the footage is a bit far away but ill post it up anyway when i get it off him..
But yeah, these days are awesome fun.. We are already planning another one, hopefully this time my car will be running..

Just a quick one of the formula SAE car... Fucking went like a rocket.. prob a bad day to be running slicks though![]()
Poor dudes had to wrap all their electronics and data logging equipment due to the rain... Also had to replace the fuel pump in the morning..
Oh and just for the record that was revved to 6000rpm......It revs to 16000![]()

you have to organise it yourself, if you get 16 people together then it costs $65 each..
Just have to call and see when they have a day available.
We organise em pretty often through BodgePro but the spots get filled before we even book..
I posted this here so maybe a few people in WA could get together and run a similar day.. Hint hint Damo....

and theyve got no problem with you drifting? Last time i went down to a tuning day there they started telling us they didnt want us drifting nemore, cause we were laying down too much rubber or some bullshit, i think its cause the head manager bloke was there though cause on previous days they never had a problem with it
The head manager dude is John, he is a champ.. They told us as long as they can see that we know what we are doing and there is no other events going on then they dont really care..
They will not allow: Static Burnouts or donuts... any trev can do that..
They will not allow drifting if there are other groups around or if there is any driver training courses being run... They dont want people to see dudes drifting while others are being taught car control...
Generally if you act like a tool, or they think that you are just sliding, not controlling your car, they will tell you to stop, if you dont they will show you the door... or gate...whatever..
We have been there about 5 times now so they know us pretty well...
