First post! Woot
I have noticed over the last few days the following problem.
When I visit the main forums page, if there are new posts in the forums, those forums titles will be highlighted red indicating the new posts! This is a good thingBut if I just sit on the main forums page and do not enter any of the forums, eventually after an undetermined amount of time if I refresh the page, no forum titles are highlighted red. Is this a built in feature of the new forum? Can it be changed?
Oh and wheres the speel check?
Shane,
this is a funny one.... im not 100% sure on how it's been configured in our setup of Vbulletin, but i have noticed on other vbulletin powered forums im on that the marking of read posts acts a little funny.
Josh or Rob might be able to answer this one better than I can - but this is a question a few of us raised whilst testing the forums.
...... butt scratcher?!
Its a problem cause its continually doing it. Makes it difficult to keep track of posts.
yeah i get confused too, i tried subscribing to threads without email notification... but that got a little excessive....
from memory Josh was following this one up on the Vbulletin admin support forums.... after ToyotaFest im sure we'll be concentrating more on these new forums![]()
...... butt scratcher?!
Has this issue been solved as yet? Havent been on here recently to notice![]()
I'm getting a similar thing where I see the Toymods logo in red when I first open up, when after it redirects me when I log in, they're not showing up anymore.
Might be time to upgrade the forum software?
*pulls out hair*
this makes posting and following threads almost impossible - i actually dont like browsing this forum as it is just TOO HARD to follow whats going on.
imho this needs FIXING, not ignoring. its a fundamental function of an internet forum. its not some luxurious add on feature that makes us all warm and fuzzy, its a necessary requirement!!

Yeah, exactly what i'm talking about too! Its ghey! Real ghey, its like draven slurping on a big schlong! Thats how ghey. I hate it.
I'm adding my vote to how annoying this is!
It's the reason i haven't been using the new forums much at all, i just have no idea what's going on and what i have or haven't read
unfortunately it appears to be a bug with Vbulletin software..... it happens with just about any Vbulletin forum and is something that wasnt expected to be a problem!
I've brought it up with the board, and its something we've already looked at and will continue to follow up with the Vbulletin developers. Hopefully it will be fixed in an upcoming upgrade.
Im not that up to speed on the whole forum admin side of things, so all i can say is that it's being looked into because it's annoying us too.
Ed - you shouldve noticed this is also happening on the Lexus-Toyota forums you have there in your hot-links tabs![]()
...... butt scratcher?!
lol...
but i 'care' about this forum, thats the difference![]()

On a similar note, in user cp the subscribed threads seems rather random to the point of displaying threads I haven't even read.

ok well these forums have now been upgraded to version 3.5.1 which has fixed the new post flags!!
No more problem!!
...... butt scratcher?!
Good shit. See what problem we can find next![]()
The default behaviour for the new posts and things in Vbulletin up until 3.5 was to use cookies and time out the new threads even while a user was on the forum. Then once you leave the forums all threads are marked as read until new posts are made after you leave the forum.
There has been new options added and the one I have set it to should act like the old forums. The problem with this is that it's more system intensive, in fact the read posts marking on the old forum is the cause of the performance issues we had.
To add to this I made the change to the read/unread behaviour today so all threads with posts from the last 10 days will most likely show as unread until you either read them or mark them as read.

lol I wondered what happened just came in and all the forums were marke unread and I was confused. just clicked mark all forums read and continued on. Thought it may of been a glitthc or something, thanks for clearing that up.
Guys - its still completely fuggered...
i can read everything, mark everything, do anything, and every time i go back to a menu of the listings EVERYTHING remains unread. all the time, no matter what....
this is madness
