anything further on this?
Toymods is currently looking at being able to offer its FINANCIAL members Historic number plates. These are conditional registration plates for vehicles that are 30 years old or more and UNMODDIFIED. ie As the Factory intended.
These is a bit of paperwork and politics involved in getting these so basically this thread is to see who would be interested in getting these if we went ahead with it ?
Basically this is a limitage useage registration for stock Classic cars, You cannot drive them just anywhere and you cannot modify them, But if you have a stock classic you can keep it in runing order by bringing on official club runs and the rego can greenslip combined is less than $100 a year. There will be conditions to the issueing of these plates if we get them and you must live and have the car in NSW (Sorry thats and RTA stipulation)
So who would be interested ??

Is there a requirement for the club to get a minimum number of these plates to begin with or can people ask as they are required? I'm interested but I'm looking at this car getting on the road in the next 2 years or so.

So, the Toyota Modification (ToyMods) club/forum, is looking at registering plates for unmodified cars.Originally Posted by TheToyman75
Very interesting idea, almost as interesting as the neuro reading on someone who restores old Toyota's.

We have 2 so far.
Stradlater/Tosco,
Toymods is always going be a modifiers club. Its what we always have been and the focus will stay that way. However as each year roles by more and more of the cars we all love to play with are becoming eligible for Historic Rego. Allot of us have more than one or 2 cars and wouldn't mind the idea of having a classic stocker parked next to our modified version. Historic Rego makes this an affordable option.
With more and more car clubs disapearing Toymods wants to do as much as it can to keep the greater Toyota community alive and thriving. This is just one more way we can help out.
Just looking around at ToyotaFest last year saw some awesome stockers so this is a way to help keep them on the road.
Alchemist,
Your current Supra isn't eligible but give it another year or two and you could pick up a Series 1 Supra to park next to it![]()

Rod, that is otstanding news for you guys in NSW. Anyone who uses their "classic" on a limited basis, amd mainly for cruises and other "club events" should jump at this.
Us poor Canberrans, must join another club, such as "MG Car Club" to participate in this limited use rego. When the CCG was formed, it was as a loose social club, and has no articles of incorporation, so not able to offer its members this type of deal.
We have 2 x '75 Celica's, and a '72, all of which would be eligible.
cheers Chuck.

Chuck,
Mate I was hopeing we could offer Historic plates to all Toymodders but the RTA is really specific about the cars owner being a resident of NSW![]()
I will ask the powers that be at Grafton what the go is for the wider distribution of Historic Plates.

Count me in Rob if they take a wider selection ie QLD, if not I should be back in NSW in about 16 months.
Cheers

Hi,
Yeah, count me in on this one.
I think it will be great for the club as it will not only keep its current format of "modded" Toyotas, but will expand by allowing and catering for the unmodded classics. All in all, it will help Toymods and the Toyota community.
Awesome stuff!!!!

i would be interested, but not for 2 years at least![]()
for historic rego, can the car be coming from unregistered? or must come from current normal rego?
the second 15 would be good on historics... no point paying $500+ for rego on a car that will rarely be driven...
and for the club, it can only be a good step, particularly for public perception, taking us seriously etc....
can we get the toymos logo on the plates?![]()

Hm, interesting. I was under the impression that Historic Rego could also be applied for for a historic club race car, which still meets normal registration requirements.
Maybe thats only in the ACT.

its a good idea, but i agree a bit lmited as to who can use them.
since moving to SA they have a much wider range of plate available, even CORPORATE plates which can have your own logo on etc, if i could get toymods corporate plate i would definately be in.
funny how nsw are so keen on revenue raising (speed cameras parking tickets etc) that they dont follow the lead of SA by offering a much wider range of custom plates.

this is not "historic rego plates"...
Rod is talking about special "conditional registration for historic cars"
ie, limited use, and limited cost, but with many restrictions....
