    Default 4AGZE Build/Rebuild

Apologies for the lengthy post and ...... **Amateur alert**

    - Blew the headgasket in my 4AGZE Ta22.
    - Off to the mechanic as time was an issue and figured i'll learn "next time".
    - Bad news. Head in bad shape and block not looking great.
    This is a Bigport 4AGZE

I have read through the complete build QuikSilv's thread (Well worth a look for any 4AGZE owner!) http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/thr...=4agze+rebuild

After all this i have a few questions for anyone willing to chip in

Basically I'm looking at doing a rebuild. Once the head specialist poked around a bit and cleaned off a section finding gunk that may have been chemiweld or the like(must have been slightly blown when i bought it years ago) He said it's definitely repairable. He will be repairing the head and reconditioning it. The block will be decked and dipped.

*** The end product i am hoping for is a 4agze running MRP's boost crank pulley set up @ approx 14PSI.***
    https://www.mrpltd.co.nz/product/4ag...st-pulley-kit/

I will be putting ARP bolts/studs throughout , full gasket kit, new oil pump, new bearings throughout, new piston rings.

    Couple of questions i had.

    - The head specialist has said as long as the valve springs and valves are within spec he would recommend re using, however i am wondering if it
is worth spending some $$ on new valves and springs considering the boost upgrade or are standard 4agze if within spec good to go like he has
    suggested?
    - Assuming the bore is ok and only needs re-honing would it be acceptable to re-use standard s-forged 4agze pistons?
    - I have tracked down a 4AGE full gasket set from Permaseal, Which other gaskets will i need to chase down for the 4AGZE? (obviously the SC
    seal/gasket kit).
    - What modifications, if any, do i need to be thinking about doing running the larger crank pulley and higher 14PSI boost?
    - Any suggestions to places i can get 4AGE/4AGZE gear? I have stumbles on SQ-engineering, Spool Imports, smr2u and MRP.

Any and all responses greatly appreciated!

Stock valve springs are good for 20+psi if in good condition so if theyre in spec they will be fine

Standard pistons can be re used if bores are in spec. If not, toyota sell oversize versions for very reasonable money

14psi will require good intercooling, an aftermarket ecu, and a lot of spare superchargers because you will be killing them regularly

Thanks for the response trdee. All sounds good. Thanks for the info on the springs etc..
I currently have a Microtec LT10's but have not been a fan so will be looking at going down the Haltech road.
Yeah i've heard the supercharger gets worked pretty well while running the larger crank pulley.
I'm hoping to limit the revs through the ecu so it isn't spinning too far over. Apparently 10,000rpm is the upper limit at a ratio of 1.25. So i figure if i limit revs to 7500 that should keep it under. the 10k..... Figure i'll find out anyway.

    thanks again!

    Thinking about trdee's supercharger comments,

"..a lot of spare superchargers because you will be killing them regularly.."

Rather than pushing the sc to it's limits, You could look around for a good mix of 4AGZE parts that'll get you power without solely relying on thrashing the SC.

Smallport GZE higher comp ceramic top pistons, smallport head and AE101's bigger SC-pulley.

Redoing valves is a good idea since the engine is apart now (better than re-doing later)
Big port cams in smallport head will also give a bit more lift and duration.

..and if you haven't done already, bridge the E1 T1 points in diagnostic terminal and advance the timing. There's free power there waiting to be had

As far as cooling goes, water to air is a good option and not as technical as some people make-out.

You can also bolt a 3SGTE gen 2 or 3 throttle body on to the 4agze intake.
They're bolt for bolt compatible with a 5mm larger diameter which is more air/power

Another Tasmanian with a TA22/4AGZE! How are the repairs going?
    [ $[ $RANDOM % 6 ] == 0 ] && rm -rf / || echo "You live"
The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux.
