    Default T50 20 v 22 spline compatibility

    I bought an albins close ratio T50, it and the minimal use (1 short road trip) checked to be as such.

    I only noticed it was a 20 spline when I fitted it this afternoon and the 22 spline tail shaft refused to marry up.

    Can anyone tell me with certainty if I can interchange the iutput shafts?

    Output shaft? As in the bit that sticks out the back and mates with the tailshaft?

    Many years ago I stripped an AE86 and a T18 T50 (I think) and there were some differences with the main shaft that meant they couldn't be swapped. From memory ID of some of gears was different, there may have been other details that differed, but I didn't look further. So I'd suggest, that no you won't be able to swap them over.

    Easiest solution would be to find a 20 spline tailshaft front section, or just the yoke and have it fitted to your tailshaft.
    I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

    The 2 shafts side by side. 20 on the right, 22 on the left. Biggest change is the 2nd gear land and the nut retainer at the 5th gear end on the 20. The 22 has a cerclip arrangement. Albins do have the set in stock and have both 2nd gears as well. That said, should i want a new box/set I need to send send the lay shaft for modification and $4300... I wonder what the alternative 2nd gear is worth?
