Default Ready to give up. Need your help again!

    Hey all,

I've got a st205 gt4. Been rebuilding it for a while. Beasts running and almost there...

    Problem:

I changed the old corroded am1 and am2 fuses under the dash along with the100a alernator fuse under the bonnet.

    NOW IT WONT START!!!

    Symptoms:

When I turn on the ignition all my dials come on BUT the fuel pump doesn't prime?

THEN when I try to crank nothing at all happens excep, no starter or ignition click, the dials all dim out and my voltage gauge drops from 12.5v to 9v???

Soon as I release the key the dials come back and the voltage shoots back to 12.5v.

I've looked at the wiring diagram but just dont understand what's going on. Thinking the starter relays getting no signal.

I put the old fuses back in. Still dead.

The old alternator fuse was broken and bridged wen I got the car. Ran like that for years lol. I've wired in a new 100a fuse and holder. Only thing I've changed. Surely this isn't linked to the starter circuit?

    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks again

    Chris.

How long has it been sitting between starts?

Have you tried it with a known good battery or jump start pack?

    Classic signs of dud battery.

Hey Archie, thanks for the fast reply!

    SOLVED it today!

Alternator wires/fuse powes everything else from what I can see. Reconnected the old wires and fitted the fuse inline instead of on its own just off the old wires... Boooooom! Fired straight up!!!!

    Thanks

    Chris
