Default ST141 Corona diff into a RT132 Corona Possible???

    Newbie Here

Short story I have a 1980 Toyota Corona RT132 and the diff has been welded before I got the car and I need to quickly replace it for the time being before upgrading it later.

finding this diff especially in Tassie where the car sits before I bring it to Melbourne has been very difficult.

I have been on the phone to someone who is selling a ST141 1988 Corona and over the phone he said you may be able to use this diff.

I've looked at a lot of previous forums and a lot of them the links to the complete specs of Toyota diffs doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me if I can use the diff out of the ST141?

Both being T series would the centre be the same?

Yes you can. The diff itself will bolt in fine, however as always the devil is in the details. Handbrake cable setup will differ (xT13x and xT14x have different pull rates at the handbrake lever) and the tailshaft flange will also be different. Getting the tail shaft to match the ST141 diff would be a good idea, although it may not fit, you'd at least have the correct yoke and flange.

Dave, if it's just a matter of moving it over to Melbourne then that can definitely be done with a welded diff and a bit of care.

If the tailshaft flange suits then I am pretty certain that any T series pumpkin (centre with ring and pinion in housing) should fit. I've used TA22, RA40, RA60 and import RT132 guts direct from the wreckers in my TE72 T series housing without problem.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

So in case this thread comes in handy for anyone else in the near future, I got down to tassie this long weekend and the diff changed over without any issues. Only change we had to do was the tail shaft flange, everything else was a perfect fit

One thing to watch for is a T diff head of the large axle variety that was introduced mid/late 80's in ae86 facelift etc wont fit the earlier axles of *t132 coronas
