Like a tool I managed to BREAK my hks 256 intake .cam reinstalling half asleep after a heavy nightshift (embarressed to say how lol). Just scored a gen 3 (same tr) 3sge cam .off fleabay for 25 quid delivered 😀. Hks cam was 9.0mm lift. This baby is 9.8mm/252 lift according to google. Anybody ever dropped a gen 3 3sge cam straight into an st205 or gen 3.engined mr2? Clearance issues??? or happy days??? I got old shims knockin about. Any help would be appreciated!!!
No 205 cams to be found on fleanay. Mr T is tooooo expensive and dont wanna spend 500 notes .on new 264s yet... HELP!
Cheers

Anybody? 95% its a cool swap but wanna be 110% sure before I drop it in this weekend 😀 Thanks!
No one at all can confirm this for me?? Also wondering if an St202 beams side feed intake manifold will bolt upto an st205 jead? Ports look a completely different shape but ive read its a netter flowing budget upgrade that should fit? Seen one cheeeeep n wanna check before I buy. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks peeps!
This forums dead a bit. But at the end of the day theres no difference between the gen3 gte/ge head so cams are a straight swap.
The beams manifold is wrong for the gen3 head, get the caldina 215 gte inlet manifold.
Obv you need to check if you need to adjust shims to suit.
Hi Jonathan. Thanks for the reply. Got a big bag of spare shims ranging from 2.30 to 3.00. Was just worried about the extra 1.1mm of lift over the std cams (hks are only 0.3mm higher lift than std). Its a JUN valvetrain so hopefully should be upto the job. Was just stressing bout clearance. Any idea how high I can go liftwise before I get issues? Seen some 268s with 10.4mm id like to run soon as the engines broken in and mapped. Thanks. Chris.!
Not sure to be honest. But def no issues withe the lift of the gen3 NA cam.
Have a look at kelfords website. They have the biggest range of profiles.
Yeh i have one of those toda cams. But i was going to use it on a beams head for the exh side (redtop) they take 12mm lift (iirc) before you need to start modifying retainers for clearance to the stem seal.
Thanks for the info guys!!! Appreciated!!! Cams went in fine!!!
