    Default C56 Driveline Judder

    Hi. . .

My car's developed a pronounced juddering on 1/2 - 3/4 - full? lock; AFAIK only when turning left. . .

It's been building for a while; at first I thought it was just the tyre rubbing on the wheel-arch liner so didn't pay it much attention but it's recently gotten a fair bit worse (strangely enough only after I picked up a C160 which has been sitting in garage while I summon the motivation to actually put it in. . . ).

At first I thought it was the LH drive shaft's CV joint but the symptoms are quite different; it's more of a bucking / jumping / juddering than the clicking normally assoc. with stuffed CVs. The importer I got the C160 off also doubted it was the shafts; he said that unless the boots have been torn (which they aren't) the shafts rarely fail.

I then did a bit of Googling & apparently EG Honda's get this quite a bit & with those cars it's usually the LSD. If you're lucky a change of oil can save the day; if you're not. . $$$

Was just about to swap in a spare LH drive-shaft but I think I probably need to pull my finger out & swap the box; or at least change the oil & see if it makes a difference.

    Has anyone with an AE92 / 101 / 111 with an LSD g/box had a similar issue?

PS: What's the recommended lubricant for these ? The C56 was also bought off an importer; AFAIK its running the OEM helical LSD**

**How can you tell what type of LSD's in a box?

What did it look like? Thanks.
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!

An intact boot is not an indication of healthy cv joint.
