Tx case was the original chain driven Hilux one.

My gosh it sounds awesome. Quite loud but oh so nice

Trying to get the temp gauge working. I pulled the original sender out of the 3rz and cut the plug off the loom that goes to the ecu. Put the sender in a kettle and turned on the key and narda.
Found the ecu pinouts and earthed out the brown wires but still nothing.

Anyone got the instrument cluster pinouts for the 98 Lux and would it be possible to bypass the ecu and tie into the cluster at the plug?
Would assume a relay would be needed to supply 12v in run to the sender and then send the resisted signal to the cluster.
    Is it that simple?

It is pretty easy. It is the yellow/red wire at pin 11 on the 13 pin plug

Legend thank you. I had the cluster out and was trying to wire up to "TMP" assuming it would be temp. How silly of me.

Followed the wire colour codes and she works like a treat.

Now the overheating issues are fixed onto a bigger pressing issue...
Gearbox oil pump (big sad face)

A note to new engine builders, pull the TC off the flywheel and put it in the bell housing and then screw it to the flywheel once in. Do this no matter how much of a ****** **** it is.
If you don't the TC will push the oil pump shaft into the pump and this is how you will be coming back home...
