Default 1jz into rs46 crown ute.

Anyone done it? Even into an rs40? Intend on buying a soarer as a donor car, but would like to know what I'm in for first. Cheers.

    Hi,

I have a ms47 with a 5mge, bolts straight in as it has a 2m from factory. I am fairly confident that the rs40 front is 110mm shorter as it was never designed to have a 6 in it. Measure twice, cut once.

    Cheers

    Brad

I have an RS56 ute with a 2JZ sitting in the bay. If you have an engine in the ute already then bay length will not be an issue.

You will definitely need a different sump to what is found on J engines in Australia. You will need a sump from a JZS130/JZS131. The rest is just making engine mount brackets for the block and refabbing the gearbox Xmember/

    cheers Chuck.

Yeah I think I have the sump organised. What's involved in getting the wiring done?

Forgot to ask, will the rear turbo hit the steering box?

That's one bit that was a bonus, no clearance issues with the turbo's and the steering box. A non turbo 2JZ with stock manifold wont fit! the bloody extractors are just huge. Wiring is going to be a pain in the ass, but there are plenty of wiring diagrams for Soarers on the web. Fortunately I don't have to deal with electrics, but if you can read a diagram, operate a multimeter and a soldering iron, it is just a matter of time and patience.

Just a thought, Smashpalace on these forums is doing the same conversion into another RS56 ute, he is using the instrument cluster and dash from the donor Soarer. You should fit the entire loom from the Soarer and toss the 50 year old wires of the Crown in the bin.

    cheers Chuck.
