Default AE86 hand hits indecator!! momo wheel

I have just bought an ADM sprinter and it came with an MR2 steering wheel installed but when ever I drive anywhere my hand knocks the blinker because the indecator is nearly touching the steering wheel. I swaped over to a Momo wheel and Boss but still have the same problem, what has everyone else done to solve this problem??!!

if you are happy with the position of your steering wheel, cut off enough of the indicator stalk so it clears your knuckles. if not, fit a spacer as suggested.

i have done both methods, i run a spacer now because i didn't like how the wheel sat without it.

heat the stalk up with a lighter and bend it slightly back so it doesnt hit your knuckels,
or buy an entender, all the bosses i have bought for sprinters all do the same thing

^^Yep. My car has the indicator stalk shaved and Im using a T3 boss extender.
I recommend using a dished wheel or a spacer as having the wheel closer to you provides a much nicer driving position.

that big round steering wheel with the words TWINCAM 16 on it (T-shaped) , leather wrapped with metal bits on the spokes... believe the wheel came from an old celica or jap-spec AE-86 that fits perfectly without a bosskit.. grr if only i had the pics..

anyhoo the dodgiest thing i've seen is to shorten / modify the stalk from inside but it still touches.. heaps of ways around it though.. i prefer to get a better toyota steering like the twincam 16 one.. good grip, nicely round and such.

bending it back with a lighter is a one way trip and loses originality so don't do it unless u're really sure! wat's wrong with the stock wheel? is like a H shape and has the S in the center (for superman, as opposed to C for crappy?) ehehehehhe good luck with it!!

YOu can buy from Autobarn, a XXL Bosskit designed specifically for the AE86. It will give you enough clearance for a flat dish steering wheel to clear the stalk with enough room for hektik drift manouvres.

They have it in the SAAS catalogue.

hmm, might have to get one, my ghetto spacer is slightly off centre.

and a steering wheel spacer is among the last things i would be worried getting defected about, and possibly the easiest to fix.

I took your advise and went into Autobarn but there extra long one listed for the AE86 was only 1.5cm longer than the boss I was allready using, BUT they did have as SAAS boss extension kit that extended my boss by 4cm so I got an extra 40mm of boss for $40 instead of spending $88 on a super special extra long Boss that only gave me an extra 15mm

P.S. it is very neat and tidy, you can't really tell it has been lengthened.

twincam steering wheels seem to sell for a fortune (over $100) this is a much cheaper way and it lets you keep your wheel a leather MOMO in my case.

^^ good thing to do adrogen. alternatively, you could of got a quick release kit which also acts as a security feature as well as a spacer
