I figure you don't find too many of these, so I thought I'd post it up here...

    Model E-ST205-BLMVZ
    Engine 3S-GTE 1998cc
    Frame # ST205-0008485
    Color 202
    TRIM FQ20
    Trans./Axle E154F -08B
    Plant/Built A54

This was off the wrecked Jap-spec ST205 half-cut which I rebuilt and shoved into the RAV.

Are these (newer) plates actually stamped or are they laser-etched? I figured if these were stamped like older ones, they'd have a kind of embossing-look/effect on the other side of the plate, but the newer plates don't seem to be like this.

Interesting Rivers F313 comes up as an F series LSD 3909 but F082 comes up as open 7.5 when in fact an LSD was fitted to the Corona 4.111:1
Also that the Celica had 13 inch wheels and 3.909 the Corona 14 inch and 4.111 maybe to get back some lost acceleration due to the higher tyres.

    IN A WORD YES

also why are some people blanking out numbers and other people are not?

    Blanking out?
You mean to stop people copying or falsifying VIN plates?
Dont know about here but it is done all the time, the perpetrators trying to pass off look alikes as the real monty like GT HO falcons 400+ made 1700 registered as real in Australia alone
    .

sorry for the noob questions but i am really interested,
    thanks
Vin plates add to authenticity and also allow you to investigate a cars history.

if you are ever in doubt take a look at the chassi number on the firewall to see if it has been altered. Or ask VICROADS or DOTARS.

e.g. This rare as Fairlady 280Z turned out to be a 280ZXR one of 1000.
In Australia all vins commenced with a 1 on NISSAN 280Z's .
This car found under a tree in Warrnambool commenced with a ZERO.

If you compare the plate above with a real 280ZX Australian you will find significant differences in the engine, its pollution configuration and horsepower.
Without the VIN plates on thes epages you would have to pull every parts car apart to find the part you want like a diff or gearbox.

Sadly Aussie makers don't put enough info on their plates and you are left wondering what gearbox and diff are in the car.

On Japanese Domestic Models JDM's the plate tells you the factory/plant where the car was made and the year of manufacture.

    e.g. Y53 means SHOWA year of emperor 53+25 = 1978.
In japan they use Y and a number and a different non gregorian calender.

Plates like my RT104GT and Rivers RA GT show that the cars are authentic factory modesl with factory fitted 18RG engines unlike aftermarket retrofitted models. FWIW.

These plates are NOT COMPLIANCE PLATES.

    SPEAKING OF Chassis numbers:
Does anyone know why some Toyotas e.g. My 104GT and my VZV21 Camry have a large number stamped on the cross brace above the radiator?
It looks like a chassis number or a car number but it is not the same as the Firewall number.

e.g. Rt104-012604 compared with 85294 in large numbers on the radiator cross bracket.

My VZV is 95000 something, any ideas what this number is?

Interesting that Celica GT's were made at Plant 41 in Nagoya and GT Coronas in Plant 42 in Aichi.
