    Lightbulb i-Trader trading rep system...

    Hi Guys,

I know this topic has kinda been covered, but not using the i-Trader feature of our forum software. Basically you can have a trader rating, as well as another rating, leave feedback for people view comments etc.... it's basically a copy of eBays system. Maybe not a bad idea as eventually not all people selling stuff will be forum members and 30 rep isn't hard to get these days....

www.supraforums.com.au use it if you want a look at it...

Or maybe in the rep system now. We can have an option for positive or negative rep on trading displayed on a scale in peoples profiles when they post.?? Just a thought.

I'm a fan of it too it allowed me to find reputable traders on SAU and source brake components. They seem to be fairly strict on shonky traders.

i think this is going to fall under the "Toymods is not a classifieds service" rule....

... if the forums were to start using a system like that, people will start expecting to be able to use the forums as a free classifieds service, and thats not what they are.

True Karl, but in time the classifieds is going to grow considerably more than the small section is is now, as our nearly 3000 members all wind up getting over 30 rep. which is bound to happen eventually....

The system doesn't have to get used, it's only used by people buying and selling things if you don't buy or sell anything your rep stays at 0, which is normal. It's alot more organised than badly organised thread with peoples comments in them(which are also bound to spring up) that could turn into flame wars and buyers or sellers who have been hard done by would have a decent avenue for the right of reply....

I dunno, tis just an idea....

yes... but does having rep/membership mean you're not dodgy?

I know ed and I would never get any trader rep, because it typically takes us weeks or months to post stuff off

I'm not a fan either, mainly because the classifieds is an extra service, not the main focus of this forum.
Plus it'd be something else I'd have to look after & I'm having trouble catching up modding the classifieds after 2 months of holidays & spasmotic internet connection.

I can appreciate that trading isn't the "main" purpose of these forums, but it happens here and surely for those members who do buy and sell it's an "value added" service? The system would requite about as much maintenance as the rep system does, which is pretty small, except off complaints here at there.

remember also nathan, that the required 30 rep points to get your classifieds privledges will be updated over time as the forums grow and change

i was about to say, isn't it about time that went back up to 40 rep?

And I'd guestimate it would be 50rep by the end of the year.

I give out +8 or +9, and Stu gives out +10 I believe.

So it doesn't take long now.
