Noisy front auto trans diff... oil?

Hi all,

The diff (part of the auto trans) on my VZV21R Camry is slowly becoming more noisy.

The diff has a separate drain & filler ports to the trans, but normally takes the same ATF as the trans.

Can i use something heavier than ATF (ie oil), to quieten it down and hopefully make it last longer?
The one thing im worried about is the trans and diff sharing the atf/oil somehow (shared breather ports, etc), any one know if they do?

Guess ill play it safe, flush and fresh ATF then.
