1. how did you end up getting the shaft out of the CHRA?
2. how did you get the bearing cartridge out of the CHRA? Is there a circlip holding it in or a locating pin in the oil supply hole? How do you get this pin out? Does the cartridge then just slip out?
3. how did you reassemble the balls back into the bearing cartrige?
any other tips you have would be greatly appreciated. I plan on using one of the Chinese ceramic BB cartridges on ebay or maybe just replacing the steel balls if I can buy them and the bearing race is in good condition. Thanks
regards, Andrew
Happy to help Andrew,
the shaft and bearing assembly come out all together. First you need to remove the inducer wheel, which is left hand thread. in the GT3582R their is a locking pin integrated into oil feed fiting that screws into the CHRA, from memory is should come out with a hex key. the shaft and bearing assembly should just slide out of the CHRA. but it was a while ago and i may have forgotten a step or 2.
To get the bearing assembly off the shaft, I used a Toledo long jaw puller and pulled it straight off the shaft, with a bit of lubricant sprayed and the shaft where it was sliding across
To get the balls back in the race, I used some grease to hold them with the cage on the inner race then hand pushed the inner and outter races back together.
3 years on and its still going strong.
May I ask why you are rebuilding it?

Mike Beatle
