    Default 1jz gte vvt-i tuner

looking for a good tuner that has experience with tuning a jzx100
    1jzgte vvt-i engine

got my car tuned and think the result is too low and want another tuners opinion

    car has a highmount gt3076r setup , 3.5inch dump pipe,4inch intake
    hks twin power,sard 530cc inj,haltech e11v2,tial 44mm gate,ebc

made 264rwkw on 20psi?? seems low
with 542.5 ftlb torque , so torque is good

it drives really well and is responsive and is very quick but thought the rwkw should have been higher

the current tuner says it needs valve spring replaced for more power, does that sound right?
is there anyway of checkin this?

Post the map, it's not hard to make top end power. Making the car drive perfect at part throttle is harder.

Scott @ Insight Motorsports has a lot of experience with a range of vvt engines.

What size rear housing. If it only the .63 rear then the figure seems to be close. I have tuned on VVTi 1JXZ in the past with a gt35 and it made 330rwkw. This was with a Power FC which contolled the VVTi well. The VVTi should be used to maintain repsonse and emissions. It does not have that great of effect top end unless the tuner has no idea.

oh it has .82 rear housing, not .63 thats why i thought it seemed low
    car is manual as well

Sounds pretty right from my experience with VVt engines. They don't make big numbers easily. As JP said, if it still has good response and drives well then it is a good result.

Which 3076 do you have, the surge ported TO4E cover or the TO4S cover without surge port?

its not a garret turbo but a billetturbochargers one it has the to4s comp cover
with bullet surge porting, but same specs as 3076r so thought it was easier to say

Could be anything then as I am pretty sure they use old garrett wheels on there non billett wheel stuff.

is all good now thank anyway, replaced valve spring as tuner recommended
+ did 264/264 cams (while camshafts were out may aswell)
now made 270rwkw on 14psi and 315 rwkw on19-20 psi

    ON THE SAME DYNO

instead of hogging the dyno readout thread in general chat
    http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...?t=9011&page=7

    will continue here

for those that couldnt be bothered reading that thread,
i have 315rwkw on dyno sheet but
could only manage a 13.3 et and 109 mph
which shows lower power using mph and weight calcs

no i dont have wideband or data logging and know nothing about that sort of thing , not after a dyno
queen, after a fast car that shows the right mph for what the dyno shows,
any info on this sort of thing/setup?

i went to the last toymods dyno day and made 225kw with same turbo, without cams
with a differnt low mount manifold with std ecu and inj on 12.5psi

now has highmount shallow angle merge collector manifold with haltech ecu 530cc inj
264/264 cams upgraded valve springs and 19 psi, and is much much much faster traction in first and second is non existant on the street

although my turbo has started to make a small whining noise on light on off throttle but still boosts
fine and no noises under boost, is only 16,000km old and 12,000 was lower than 13psi max boost

turbo manufaturer wants me to send it to (qld) them for inspection but i need my car to get to work
    (in sydney)

FWIW my car read 20kw atw different between a mainline (260kw) and DOS based dyno dynamics (240kw)

Lower power under the curve, not necessarily related to lower peak power.

I can't see your comparative dyno sheets from here, but how do the power/torque figures look at lower rpm between the two setups? Have you sacrificed much by fitting larger cams for example?

yea i understand that dyno's read different but the power calcutated from my 109 mph and weight
of 1640 ish kg ( with me inside and half tank of fuel)
it calculates at alot lower than my 423rwhp/315.6rwkw
    something like 30% lower

by driving it before and after i'd say it make more power everywhere is much better to drive
but here is dyno sheets anyway

    before cams and valve spring

interesting that on the dyno sheet in november you're making more power but less torque...
