Depends on what you want and how much money you are willing to spend. The heads on these engines, whether they are a Yamaha or Toyota head, are identical.

wats the power its gonna have and wats it gonna cost? i want unleaded fuel too...
All 18R-G engines can run unleaded fuel, so you're okay with that one. The amount of power depends upon how much money you want to spend. A well built 18R-G with a decent turbo set-up, injectors and good ECU can deliver well over 200-250rwKw, but would cost you anything from $7k upwards.

also wats involved? help me out i kno a little about cars and engines so gimme the

Money, money and more money... unless you can do a fair bit yourself (and do it properly). If you know little about these things my best suggestion is to start reading up about them and learn. Also get a good job that pays well as you'll probably need the skills of other people who can do the work, and they need to be paid for their services.

thanks all..this my first post hope im not sounding like a idiot.
Welcome aboard. As suggested by the previous post, go to these links and read about the engines and work involved, pit-falls etc.

    alright, i'll say it..

i started down this road and got to a point where i said fk it. sold the motor and bought a modern one with all the bells and whistles with change (then spent a fortune on after market parts)

in a car like yours you would almost be whoring the 18rg and not the car

sell the 18rg and get a 1j. easier to find parts, will make better power in the long run

edit: btw river has done it, so has oman (almost) justen gt8 and a fella with a drag car thats on youtube so the info is definately on here

cool thanks heaps for that info..yeah sounds like a big costing project...not so keen...might be the go one day if i save up enough for a different engine.... wats a good 2 litre turbo that could go into it pretty easy? do you reckon a nissan SR20 could fit pretty easy? or is that engine 1Jze a two litre? that looks like a beast of an engine...does that even fit in a corona?

1JZ = 2.5L straight 6, there have been some conversions.

1GGTE is a 2.0L straight six that is a proven fit into a Corona (depends on which model Corona you have of course)

Honestly, the SR20 is the best choice if you want a north-south 2L turbo engine.
There is plenty of them around, easy to get info, mechanics know about them, and heaps of cheap bolt on mods.
The 1GGTE is the complete opposite in those regards.

    Not a Turbo but that's a 2 litre engine in a Corona

By the way, what model Corona is it?

yes XT130. its currently jo jos car.

ok quick question....i had a different corona a RT104 i tihnk...and it had the18RGEU with the yamaha head and alot of work done...EFI forged pistons and ported polished heads....etc...and i remember very clearly...it had what i called a blow off valve on the inlet side up the front of the engine around where the head starts.....im sure...i used to rev it out in neutral and when it got above about 5 grand and i took my foot off the gas...it went FCHSSSSHHHHH and ive even seen it spew out the air when its been revved...

jo jo was tellin me its not possible on a Natural aspirated engine...but im sure it had it...

can anyone tell me if they know of this blow off valve on a natural aspirated 18rgeu?

My guess is that it's just the cam-cover breather not hooked up properly

nawwwww i say we should contact the guy whos got it. im positive it wasnt something not hooked up properly....some poor guy spent thousands at an engineering workshop in canberra on that engine.

im tellin ya it had a blow off valve...oh well....theres no need to argue. but im gonna ask jo if we can somehow contact the guy and ask him. it was soo coooool....and not just cause it was there...you could really tell it needed it
because of how hard it was revving out. and i realised it was unusual to have this feature on a N/A engine. ok...no joy here im looking crazy
