Honestly splurge out now build the box properly and then you will know that you've got a good strong box otherwise you will buy a second hand box and you know it will break no matter how many low km's it's done.
im wondering what i should do.. Rebuild my current 3s-gte RC gearbox (with the more expensive syncros) and know that its good, but have to have my car not running for a couple of weeks and down say $1400....
or try my bad luck and buy a used unknown condition gearbox and try it out.. the AWD gearboxes are going for $300-400 but the condition could be worse.
low Ks dont have much to do with these boxes because when i bought the car with 89,000kms on it the gearbox was rooted.
hmmmmm any ideas??

Hi,
Agreed. Spend the cash and get a good rebuild, unless you are thinking of selling the car soon. If you get an unknown condition 2nd hand box it could be just as bad, or worse.... and then more time and effort with the car off the road while you figure out whether to try another chance at a 2nd hand box or rebuild.
