Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 92' Cressida Grande that has been converted to a 1jz VVTI 5-spd from a JZX100. I am currently tidying up a few loose ends and one issue I have is the standard cressida tacho not working after the conversion. It's also accompanied by a check engine light. I have spoken to the previous owner of the car who did the conversion and he says the problem is:
"The check engine light is because the jzx100 has 16 pulses per rev from the tach, the mx83 only has 4."
Can anyone shed any light on how to fix the issue, or if it's even possible.
Ben
Not having any experience with the JZX100 this could be wrong, but I doubt the tacho is causing the CEL.
Please get the ecu to display the codes so you know.
As for getting the tacho working, find IG- in the loom near the ECU (comes from the Ignitor, see the Diagnostics Port for the exact wire), run it through a home made tacho booster, and feed that output to the stock tacho.
