Just a guess - but maybe something was loose, or became loose when it heated up on the highway, 20min later its cooled down and works fine??? dunno...but 4k's can't have too much go wrong with them!
I was driving my KE70 along the highway and all of a sudden it looses speed and comes to a complete stop. I restarted it a few times and it would cut out after about 1 second. I called my brother to come and have a look and when he turns up about 20 minutes later, it starts first time and drives completely normal. Anyone know what might have happened?

Did the electrics cut out? if so it could of been a loose ground wire or air, sludge in fuel lines
Ballest resistor will be burnt out id guess.
Dave
The electrics didnt cut out, maybe something in the fuel lines, i'll have another look tomorrow.
your car is JESUS
or it's a vampire ... you need to wave a wooden stake or cross at it and see if problem re-occurs.
or you have a fuel-related problem?
Cold weather at high speed? If so could have iced up the carb. Is your aircleaner set to winter or summer?
Callum
Try replacing the fuel filter.
Cheers Brett.
Well it got kinda worse today, it will only drive when the I hold the key in the start position in the ignition, if I let go the car slows down and turns off after a few seconds. All I need is for the rolla to get me about till the 20th of July when I fly off to europe for 2 years!
Running on key sounds like ballast resistor as said by Cambelt, know anyone you can do a quick swap with to test?
Callum
If your car 'runs' properly while it is in the start position, It is your ballast resistor on your coil, no doubt about it.Originally Posted by supra_cam
Check connections. If they seem ok, replace it. It's a $8< part.
The 18R-G. The GOOD 2 Litre Tractor motor.
Javal's got it. The ballast is bypassed during starting. So it works while on start, then when it goes back to using the ballast circuit, no power to coil, no spark.

thanks for the quick response guys! will replace it tomorrow.
Had a look at the ballast resistor, one of the wires had come off. Put it back on and problem solved. I can now drive with two hands on the wheel again, thanks guys!
