    Default Gland nuts

Had a bit of a poke around but didn't find anything definitive for what i was after.

I'm about to build some coilover struts in my RA65, and will be using KYB Excel-G (go ahead, laugh... i'm a povo uni student! ) SW20 struts and shortening the strut tube. now, from what i gather, the gland nuts supplied with the SW20 struts are the wrong thread pitch, and as such, are useless.

so basically, to cut a long story short, is it safe (or advisable) to use the old ones that are currently in there?

    cheers

I went and bought new ones... but I guess so long the 'old' nuts fit onto the shock nicely, it should be fine.

If you are shortening the strut tubes I believe you can get weld on new threaded sections with nuts so you just cut the top down and weld them on rather than having to re-join the cut down tube to retain the factory thread. Could be worth looking into.

i had contemplated this idea, but decided i couldn't be bothered trying to source some threaded sections alongside myself being poor. certainly a viable option though
