    Default 3sge main bearings

When determining the correct main bearings to get for the 3sge (gen1)
Your suppose to get the numbers stamped on the oil pan mating surface, aswell as the 5 numbers stamped onto the crank counter wieght face.

But in my case this 3sge engine has no numbers stamped onto the crank, except for 4A (scratches head, 4AGE crank??)

Anybody else had this issue? do the bearings themselves have the correct size stamped on them?

I noticed the numbers were on the back of the main bearings (i think).

You only need to get those numbers if you want to go with genuine Toyota parts.

Personally - i'd rather go for an aftermarket replacement bearing, get the crank machined and measure everything to specification.

I'm changing all the bearings while the motor is out, The conrod bearings arn't in too bad condition considering the 220,000km's.
The crank journals from the conrods are perfect still, and i suspect the main bearing journals are good still, but i won't count on it until i measure it up.

Standard toyota bearings are about $31 or so for the pair (upper and lower bearing shell) Which isn't too bad. So i'll just go with standard items.

Thanx for telling me about the numbers bieng stamped onto the actual bearing. Rep for ya

Still amused about 4A bieng stamped onto the crankshaft.
