    Default 1G-GTE piston rings

Im about to rebuild my 1G-GTE but before I start, Im gathering parts. I have had a search for aftermarked piston rings but havent come up with an answer yet. I remember reading somewhere using 4K rings but you have to machine part of the piston? Any other aftermarked alternative?

    Hi mate,

I dont know of any performance rings for 1ggte i dont think, but why do you want better ones for? A new set of factory rings will tolerate a fair bit of hammering. Are your compressions really low now man? How many kms are on your engine at the moment? because the motor should tolerate your turbos comfortably.

Pretty sure Pube had a big end issue and is going to rebuild the whole lot!

    Cheers

Compression was good before the big end but thought if rings wernt too expensive, they may as well be replaced since the engine will be pulled apart. Im prefer aftermarket, purely because they should be cheaper than genuine.

Castle Hill Toyota quoted me $410 and 10 days from Japan. For $297 I would buy genuine.

gtz1 - If you could see what you could do for me, that would be great!
