Default Awd Corolla? Is It Possible...

Hey everyone, thread readers and members...

i have an ae82 corolla that pumps a lot of power, enough for me to just wheel spin from 1st-3rd gear, no problems.

I was thinking about... gee i might have to do some serious suspension work so it stablises the front and keep it on the ground, instead of the body lifting while im giving it a squirt... but then my imagination came through, and i said, what about, jack-all wheel spin, and have an AWD corolla, the setup being from an AE95 AWD Corolla...

can it be done, what are the complications, what price are "we" looking at, do i have a chance?

    Yes it can be done.
    Lots of complications
YOU are looking at a crapload mainly because:
    YOU dont have a chance.

EDIT: Lets put it this way:
    1. You have already shown that you dont have the experience in fabrication necessary to make this project a reality on your own.
    2. If you had the money to pay someone to do it, you wouldnt be asking on here and would have simply fronted up at a workshop and said "make it AWD"

No malice, simply putting it bluntly.

    hahaha well said takai... hahaha.

hey you do have a point, but you see, why would i go and waste my time driving off to a mechanic, when i got well experienced people here who could answer my question right away?

its just something i thought about, while i was here sitting @ work, real bored.

I have no problems with traction from my ae82 rolla and its stupidly quick off the mark, do you have an LSD? Semi Slicks? Good shocks?

I'd buy an AW11 and put that big power motor in the back of the AW11. Then chuck the bigport from the AW11 in the rolla and sell it.

    Traction issues solved.

I still occasionally think of doing an AWD AE92.
Thoughts of BEAMS + E154F come to mind.

Swiftly followed by big cams, quads, and going like stink.

More swiftly followed by the realisation that i would be slapped over the back of the head many times over if i came home with the above.

How do you have no problems with traction and still stupidly quick, semi slicks fair enough but even still, most rwds with locked diffs/lsds, semis will still fry tyres off the line on bitumen.

Although, i do agree those 3 will help 205% in the search for traction.

Gee Neil Bates did his own.

Ah-hem - 4WD please, 'AWD' is just a marketing term.

One thing I'd love to do one day is get something like an AE-82 and turn it into a 4WD by simply getting another engine & gearbox and fit it into the rear of the car, thus making a 3.2 litre 4WD monster. It's been done in Europe and the guy had a turbo on both ends and something like 700hp.

The other way is to do what I'm doing with my KE55 rally car - I've got a Ford Sierra 4WD gearbox at home and will be turning the car into a 4WD gravel weapon. It's a long way down the list of things to do though.

    Here's the gearbox ->

It's got a vicous coupling on the output shaft that transmits about 25% of the torque to the front wheels.

Well stupidly quick for a lil rolla i'm getting 0-100 around late 4 to 5 seconds flat 0-160 in around 10-10.5. Ive got an E58 LSD with Toyo R888's and when there warm i have no problem with wheelspin at all. mabye its also due to my powercurve not suddenly kicking in and being stupidly steap.
