    Default 7m starting issues

after replacing the head gasket on my 7m the car will no longer start.. ive done everything correct however the car just seems to be lacking juice and the motor cranks over very slow (even with a new batter and no sparkplugs in

the motor was runnin gperfectly 2 days ago

having run a compression test most cylinders are around the 90 psi mark

will remind u that the engine was running perfectly before i removed the head

and as far as im concerned all the timin marks etc on the cams/ crank line up perfectly

i got spark and i got fuel also but car only backfires once every 40 cranks lets say

any ideas - got me and my dad puzzled

    cheers

I'm having the excat same problem. Motor was running fine before i pulled it out.

Only replaced all the seals in it (cam, crank, sump, front plate)
Put it back in and its doing the excat some thing yours is.

I have fuel, i have spark, tried 3 differnt afm's, 2 differnt CPS's, and 2 diff coil packs.
I've tested all the injectors they are fine, i can get them to pulse manually.

    Its just not starting

Im gunna still guess at battery. Me and a mate recently replaced the battery in his corolla with a new one and the new one was dead flat after sitting around for not even a week. Turned out the battery was totally shagged and it couldnt even kick over a little K series motor.

Did I read that correctly? 90psi per cylinder? That's uber low!

Compression on mine is spot on.

My problem seems to lay with the injectors.

My ECU is good we tested it in another car.
all the injectors check with in sepc with the multi meter, i have fuel pressure.
It just seems that the ecu isnt plusing them.

I had it running off carbie cleaner down the brake booster hose before, as soon as you stop spraying it would die.

One other odd thing i'm trying to work out aswell.

My car has a Gen3 7MGTE with the later grey plug ecu and Harness.

But yet on the harness the injectors are wired up like the older harness.
I'm just trying to work out what way they should be.

Injector clips should be the same anyway. They clip on brown, white, brown, white etc

Should just sound like a constant electric motor noise if all the plugs are out (ie; no whirr, whirr, whirr). Does it? How thick was the HG you put in? 90psi is really really low...

    I'm still fucking confused.

    I have spark
    I have Fuel Pressure
    I have good compression.

I have rewired the injectors from the ecu to the injector, to the risistor pack.

    Still wont blooody start

Injectors showing 12v with ignition on? The ECU cuts power to pulse so all should be showing voltage with IGN on

Yep show's 12v with ign on.

Seem to have narrowed it down a bit, other day i had fuel pressure. But today i took the feed for the cold start injector off the rail and no fuel came out. Bridged the pump via the diag connecter, can hear the pump running. But no fuel is comming out of the rail.

Going to pull the feed off from where it comes off the chassie rail tommrow and see if it works, may have a blockage, if not. Time for a new pump.

And yes i do have fuel in the tank, ~15Lt

Pulled the feed off from the body, powered the pump. Fuel came out

Put the hose back on, left the feed for the csi off, powered the pump, Fuel came out.

Put the csi feed back on.

Went to start it... and it runs!

Must of been some kind of air block or some shit
