    One would think it should.

Have you checked to see the ECU is getting everything it needs to throw codes?

I replaced the whole lot, tried the supra out still got the same problem dam!! BUT the car is much smoother! the idle problem is fixed and the engine is just much smoother! power felt better too! but then it got a bit worse as the ECU relearned

this is the same problem your having....when it relearns it goes SHIT!

I Should point out the problem that wasn't fixed was the low voltage on the efi relay wire which i thought was from buggered caps. The relearning low power thing is another matter

Its definetly sorted out my idle problem for good, and the motor is smoother, but yes it goes down on power after relearning, but mind you its hard to find 98octane down in tas.

Im starting to suspect a blocked cat or slipping clutch (done a 5th gear test and i dont think the clutch is slipping at all)
After boosting hard i can smell a stinky burning smell. (no error codes, making correct boost doesnt leave much else?)

What does the stinky smell like? A stuffed cat can smell like sulfur (rotten eggs) but it stems from an overly rich mixture.

Yep, ive followed that procedure, still no love.

P.S. Does that TRSM link have anything to do with JZA70s? I can only see stuff relating to MA70s.

So you have checked TPS idle contacts closed, trans in N, battery voltage above 11V?

And TE1 connected to E1 (GND)?

Does the check engine light come on at all, i.e. when you turn ignition on? (i.e. is the bulb blown?).

    Cheers

I am assuming the TPS is closed as the throttle is shut. Trans is a manual.

Battery voltage indeed above 11v, TE1 definitely connected to E1.

The light is on most of the time (ign. on as well as running), and flickers on and off randomly. Car still runs but tune is waay out, mega rich. Will backfire when the light flickers.

I am getting a known working standard ECU to test, will see how that goes. pretty sure the current one has brain cancer.

yeah its still insisting on being a deranged mental patient. Im hopefully getting a standard test ECU sent up soon, but if you get your cressi back i suppose we could try jamming it in. What issues will the auto spec unit cause though?

Yeah engine management will be on the cards somewhere in the future, ill just be glad to get it on the road first tho LOL.

Good to hear your getting your onejay powahs back soon tho, everyone in our street loves gate.

I think auto ecu in manual 1J is ok but its when you go the other way that problems happen because the auto needs the ECU to control the auto. See what happens mine is playing up aswell so I might be going Haltech

haha they do dont they, theres something very evil about external gates....

anyone willing to help redue the capacitors on my jza70 ecu???
im not that steady with a solderer and would feel safer with someone else doing it.
im willing to send my ecu to you, or if in newcastle, sydney or ideally central coast i can bring it to you. either you or i get the appropriate capacitors and i can pay you for the effort after they are in...any takers???
