Okay... I'm definately getting over this engine... tonight i hard wired every single terminal on the ecu plug, to the ecu, just to verify that it wasn't a loose connection. Well still the same crap happening.

Car is misfiring and backfiring like crazy, running rich as all hell.

    It so far is not:

    AFM
    Ballast Resistor
    TPS
    Ignition System

The other night I took it for a good 20 minute drive with no issues until I got home, where it started acting up again.

So again checked the timing, did a compression test, checked the plugs. Still running like crap.

Wiggled the computer wiring, and it seemed to be running fine again.

So if its not the plugs.... ECU?

Does anyone want to lend or sell me a two plug ECU... this is absolutely driving me nuts.

Another thought, is it true than an 22-RE ECU should do the job if I wire it up properly?

Open the ECU up and where the ECU pins are soldered to the board, resolder them. This is why I dont like soldering joins in cars, they fark up.

Only if they are incorrectly soldered.

The only solder joins i have seen fuck up are due to poor soldering. I've made about eleventy billion solder joins in cars over the years, and i think only a couple have ever failed, due to a "dry joint" from poor soldering.

Solder + heat shrink = Teh Win.

Major Clod - yes you should be able to use a 22r-e as a compromise. I would just go for a Megasquirt myself tho

Or an adaptronic... no chance of farked solders eh

a 30 year old ECU has definitely got a chance of having farked solder joins. I know the ones in Motorolla phones (from the old school) didnt last long.

Well, you were advising Major Clod to get one... and didnt offer to build it for him
Not everyone is the king of solder like you
