    Default Aurion performance tuning

Anyone done any tuning work yet on the Aurion 2GR 3.5L engine?

    Anyone in Sydney?

In a slightly different situation, but their is an off road buggy, owned by Peter Kittle (major car dealer in Northern Territory) and driven by David Fellows in the Australian Championship that runs one of these engines. It is, however, a long, long way from standard. Two big turbo's, numerous other bits and pieces, Motec CDI, etc, etc. Massively powerful engine, that also came at a massively high price. They imported the base engine directly from Toyota in Japan and did the development work here. It replaced their previous V6 twin turbo Toyota engine.

holy shit how much power do you need to go though those poor front tyres
havent done anything yet but no doubt an exhaust would be a start and maybe look into the trd aurion and see if you could buy the supercharger kit separatly

YES would like to see if the TRD Kit was available as an aftermarket kit.

With the the traction control in the Aurion it would be a nannying you to death off the line but nice mid range response eaqual to the big V8's would be nice.

well the traction control seems sorted but superchargers for a 2grfe are hard to find i am guessing a lexus RX350 engine is the same just witrh AWD trans? So should i try lexus tuners in the USA?

if you are really serious about fitting a supercharger id talk to CAPA. They have a kit to suit a 1gr-fe for the hilux so id say the 2gr-fe would be similar. They are quite expensive kits but id say they are better superchargers being a centrifugal supercharger instead of a roots blower which I think the TRD ones would be the TRD kit would be quite expensive as well. The capa kit would have alot more potential as well and being from aus you would have better tech support.

    Landcruiser Prado & Hilux 4.0L V6 (1GR-FE)
    Vortech, V-2 Quiet option 1 7 280 ex $9,995.00

It's a Vortech V2 a good supercharger better than the sprintex

Defintely not cheap! but interesting 280Kw! from the 1GR-FE would be fun in an Aurion!

Better how? Sprintex is a Lysholm from memory so pretty similar eff to a centrifugal and much much much better boost response so that's a pretty strange call to be making?

hilux is all low end, designed for real work
the aurion is likely a higher reving, not so torque-y low down motor.

Yes it is a big call and should be explained.

My thoughts are the Presara I have ordered is really a luxury car not a drag car or a sports car so I am really after mid range speed performance not monster torque or monster power. I would like real get out of trouble power in the 80-120 and 120 to 160kmh speed ranges so second and third gear 4500 to 6500rpm rev ranges.

Sprintex are positive displacement superchargers which do give better low rpm boost response no question. The twin screw or rotor design will give better boost at lower rpm and better thermal efficiency but they can be noisy and the maximum CFM flow usually tapers off. Probably good for the 1GR-FE with its lower eviing high torque tune.
Here are some of their specs Sprintex S3-335

    Displacement: 1.46 Litres / 89 Cubic inches / revolution
Max Air Flow: 335 Litres / second; 740 Cubic feet / min
    Dimensions: Length: 318mm; Width: 185mm; Height: 130mm
Suited for: 450 BHP / 340 kW Engines

The Vortech being an impellor (turbo style) supercharger need to be spun up faster to work and have gears to gear up the speed to produce the response you want down low but do not taper off at high rpm. they too can be noisy in the gears but generally only at idle.

Here are some Vortech V2 Specs
    V-2 SQ Trim Superchargers
The new generation supercharger included in most Vortech street supercharging systems

Helical cut gear profile with SQ technology
    Near silent operation
Fits engines up to 680 horsepower
    Maximum airflow: 1,000 CFM
    Maximum boost pressure: 20 PSI
    Maximum impeller speed: 50,000 RPM
    Adiabatic efficiency: 72%

It a judgement call and one I am still considering but I hear more good things about Vortech superchargers than sprintex for quality and reliabilty.

I found this hilux drift weapon. Looks like the TRD supercharger bolted on top of the engine. Instant HORN, maybe I should do this to my hilux
