I am going to go with the old graph is 16% over. It trapped 117mph on that power level which doesn't equal 355rwhp in a hilux. Done the calcs before and shown Richard

I can't remember what you dynoed at last time when you were trapping 107mph.

I think we will see this weekend that you will trap about 114-116mph at 14psi. If this is the case then I think that is pretty conclusive that the 355rwhp graph is overstated and if you did have 355rwhp and your car weighs 1300kg with driver you should be trapping about 122mph.

BTW do what John said! Get some quotes on some fuel as I wouldn't mind trying out some Martini 102 or something like that. I don't want to run mega boost but I would like to advance the timing a bit at lower boost levels to see the difference.

Lance-having a look at the graph and comparing it to the engine graph-

    http://www.brian894x4.com/Hiluxengines.html

It looks fine to me. The turbo tends to shift everything to the right, as I experienced with the 1FZ (big version of 3RZ).

You will see the torque nose over early as the motors make peak torque at under 3000.

One thing I did which seemed to work was retard the cam by 3 degrees by modifying one of the keyways (I can explain by PM maybe). That pushed peak torque and power up by moving the torque line to the right. Not by massive amounts-but worth the couple of hours work in my case.

The motor will respond well to more boost, however I'd invest in head studs ASAP-cheap insurance. (do this before a bigger cooler, as a bigger cooler will just give more cyl pressure)

Another option would be to pick up an adjustable cam sprocket from LC Engineering in the USA ($150AUD or so).

edit: i missed the bit with different turbo and psi for older graph

so the very top of the graph for the 20psi curve, is starting to see restriction, as it dips below the new graph..
but up until 120km/hr, it is a mechanical limitation of engine perhaps..

if it was IC restriction, the higher psi should be much more choked no?
could just nbe the cam/valve timing, since the amount of air allowd into the cmaber by valves for set timing would be roughly proportional to boost, whereas if there is a restriction (ports, IC whatever), then the change will be not proportional to boost (ie, above 120km/hr in the old graph)....

i change my vote to cam timing as said above

Sean: thanks for that, puts it in a much clearer pictures, why didn't i think of that.

As for the cam timing, i have been tossing up weather to buy the adjustable cam gear from LCEngineering. It seems like a worthly upgrade.

As for headstuds, i am waiting to see how things go for the short term.

OC: I am starting to see this all to coming now with discussion on here, PF and Microtech forums.
