I thought about swapping the arms. Main problem with that is the lower ball joint and tie rod end taper is upside down. Which is why I suggested custom making steering arms. Also thought of machining tapered bushes and drilling/ reaming original tapers out to straight holes that's when realised it would be just as easy to make new ones.
Another advantage of front mount rack is reducing steering column/ link angle which seems to be a problem on current conversions.
Fair comment to raise though.
That is a high possibility of working. Only thing I can see is it would need to be a Mk2 rack due to metric tapers on tie rod ends, there is though no guarantee the Toyota and Escort tapers are the same but easier to ream to matching taper than making new arms.
Good call on thinking the idea.
