    Default T, 2T, 2T-B, 2T-C & 2T-G Specifications & Diagrams

    Hi,

    Finally, the diagrams have been added!!!! (10:37pm, 13/02/2007)

    Saw a post about the 18RG info and it mentioned a request for info on the T series. Here's info on the T engines for the "2" range. Sorry, I don't have 3T specs. The following specs are for the 1973/74 version - which means it's the carby ones. Sorry, I don't have EFI information. Hope the following is of help or interest to you.

    I have included exploded views of the various T & 2T engines in this thread, This thread should contain enough information to allow you to identify parts of your engine, help assembly/disassembly and tuning.

    All are welcome to enter their technical input to this thread.

    The stated cam timing for each of the T motors above (aside from twin camshaft 2T-G) is the same. Any info on valve lift for each engine, or were the cams the same? Maybe someone with microfiches can confirm.

    EDIT: Edited to appease the user who negative repped me for quoting too much... =/

    Cam Lift (Intake) => 6.39mm (6.28mm from April 1973)
    Cam Lift (Exhaust) => 6.42mm
    So in all important respects the cams are the same between T, 2T, 2T-B, 2T-C.

    Great to see all the info going up on the site, the only concern I have is with copywrite infringements.
    That's why I only posted a small amount of info from teh 18RG book.
    Not sure how this would effect everyone involved, but I'd rather not find out.

    I'm still giving you rep for it though

    Hi,

    Good point about the copyright. I'm not sure who would get upset by it - it's not like there's heaps of manuals and detailed documentation on these old engines being produced any more, so I'm not sure who would be (ie publisher/author) affected.

    Worse case is the forums would be approached and asked to remove the information. I doubt any further action would be taken if we obliged with this request.

    Until then I guess we keep it, but, ultimately it's the Boards decision.

    If it is removed then, from my perspective, it renders a lot of our technical information (we put into these forums) to the point of near uselessness. Conversion would be okay, but any detailed technical information would of (should of) come from some legitimate text or document, and as such, all such information would be liable to breach copyright.

    What we would be left with is heresay and personal opinions and therefore should not be in the technical area, where we seek and demand absolute accuracy and reassurance the source is reliable, official and documented.

    I've loaned my 18RG manuals to Witzl, otherwise I'd be putting down the relevant tuning specifications and details on site for this wonderful engine.

    I think there is a 10% rule somewhere in copywrite legislation that sayd that you can replicate up to 10% or no more than 10% of the publication for education purposes.

    Seeing as this information is freely provided with the educate people, I'd hope its ok, but who knows for sure.

    Keep going I say!

    Thanks river. Good work

    I agree, now that river has done the hard work we should have this as a "sticky" for all.

    I read the initial 18R-G thread and thought I would dig out my full Toyota Workshop Manual and start typing but kids/Xmas and all, slowed me up.

    Now that the info is up.

    For all who do not know what "blue printing" is all about or heard it quoted by machine shops then all the spec's listed here create the "blue print" for the motor concerned.

    Build a motor to these specs and it will be exactly as Toyota designed it.

    Shall we continue with 2T-G Solex setup details?

    And then continue with T50 gearbox specs and T series diffs from the same manual?

    Copyright is questionable, although Toyota had been aproached about copying manuals for the TA-22 back in the late seventies/early eighties when 2T-Gs were being first put into the '22. The Canberra Celica Club at the time needed a manual to prove to ACT Rego that it was a legitimate engine swap. Toyota appeared not to mind us copying pages as it was their manual as long as we quoted the source.

    Regards

    Rodger
