    Default 1JZ Idle up Diode

    HI
I already know that the idle up circuit (toyota calls it electric load sensing) is usually connected to your rear window demister switch / headlight switch / thermofan switch / all of the above. When the ECU detects that one of these circuits is switched on it bumps up the idle so the alternator doesn't struggle under the load these systems put on it while it's running at low RPM.
want i would like to know is would it be benefitial to have this activated by the A/C as well?
also just confirming on a Jzz30 Soarer the wires
Blue -red strip is input from switch (eg dimister)
Red-yellow strip is signal to ecu
    green is earth

    can any one confirm?

the engine should idle up when the a/c is activated..

what circuit trigger this, as the engine is in a VL Commodore

something in the ecu id imagine, as it would open the stepper motor in the throttle body.

it would be easy enough to make a new circuit if you cant find it but im sure someone whos tinkered with this shit will know how and where.

I was under the impression that the ECU took an input AC signal so that it did indeed know when the AC was switched on....have a look at the wiring diagram for the ECU?

    Cheers

the ecu might have 2 to 4 idle up signals

it also has an ac switch signal and an ac magnet trigger

at the end of the day i never hook these up and i never have any probs

on 20v 4ag i have had probs with these idle up signals that sy i dont bother with them

i have only heard once of a 1j fitted to another car had probs with idle when ac is on

but there is easier ways to idle up the engine rather that fart ass around trying to tell ecu

I always hook up the factory idle up circuits and I never have had any problems with them. I also always hook up the Stop switch, starter, neutral switch, power sw, o/d off sw, all diagnostic connections, etc - engines will generally run without them, but I guess it's a matter of completeness..

How can it be easier to idle up an engine than to use the factory idle up mechanisms?
I'm sorry, but hooking up an ECU in the factory way is far from "fart assing around".. it's doing things the right way for the right result.

ELS takes a 12V signal from any of the circuits mentioned earlier through any number of diodes.
The A/C input also takes a 12V signal from the A/C switch or an existing host A/C output.

The A/C relay trigger is an open collector output (it pulls to grounds), giving you the benefit of delaying compressor turn on to initially increase idle and shutting off the compressor on extreme load situations.

ok checked out the wiring diagram, an there is already a system to increase idle, via the Magnetic clutch relay , the switching part of the relay is connected power via 10amp fuse to the ECU, the ECU to the A/C comp, i an not running the a/c ecu so does anybold know what sort of signal i mrrf to send via the ECU to switch the relay on? i.e does it switch to ground? so i would only have to feed power when a.c swtich is powered.
I am i on the right track
