    mic* ... you said this...........
So i went and tried this AFM tampering. This is on a 1G-GZE c/w Auto. Great results. Thanx Nath. Thought id mention that ive been keenly trying to spot your problem, but i cannot??? I have a duty cylcle meter, and it shows no signs of ECU trouble lifting the duty instantaneously when required... In saying this, i have a feeling my TPS may be ever so slightly advanced coz, very rarely, i dont get overrun coming off the throttle - it will run at an idle duty.

Does an ECU this old use delta duty values to work out whether to initiate overrun as opposed to a "next to no throttle" low speed cruise? I dont know that much about this...

what is this mod and what does it do... my 1ggze arrives next week so i want all the handy hints and info i can get... thanks
    bexi

You can run a Gen3 engine on a Gen2 ECU and loom, but you'll need the injectors (and ballast resistor), and you'll need the different coolant temp sensors. Everything else is pretty much plug and play.

jcmf do you know if the dizzy is the same b/w the gen2 and gen3
if i think about the 4AGE 86kw and 100kw motors (with green injectors funnily enough) the dizzys are different...

hmmm anyone know if the early 4AGE type ballast resisitor is the same impedance as the 1GGTE one? (i'm guessing not due to more injectors on the 1G vs the 4A)

It soudns silly, does anyone have a pic of a 1G-GTE, at beack (injector side) of the inlet manifold? I removed all teh small brackets and slips for polishing adn have forgoten what order they go back in!!!
    cheers!
Also does the fuel retern hose run through teh gap in the manifold headers, under the cold start injector? I took it apart... errr years ago, literally!

On mine from memory, the return line passes down that middle gap. It was the only way it would fit from what I remember.
