hey guys just wondering if anyone has had problems with the efi fuse blowing.
i replaced it and it just keeps happening. i have checked for shorts in the wires but everything is good.
the other question is does anyone know why when i re-wired my pump it runs at 60 psi, this is still the standard pump, is it maybe 6 volt?????
my car wont obviosly run at 60psi it just floods as you would expect.
any info would be great....
thanks.............
did you go threw a relay for the fuel pump?
The fuel pump doesn't control the fuel pressure, that is the job of the pressure regulator. If you're getting 60psi fuel pressure then you need to sort out what is wrong with your pressure regulator.
Why did you rewire the fuel pump?
Oh and the fuel pump is definately 12V.
hey guys to answer some questions i wired it with a relay, i am rewiring it because it keeps blowing fuses as soon as i switch the key to ignition, and i know it does not regulate the pressure the fuel pressure reg does i have tried the factory reg a malpassi fpr and also another aftermarket one... and it still runs at 60psi at the lowest...
i was hoping to rewire it as a quick fix but now it wont start due to the huge fuel pressure...
any other ideas...........
did you put in a bigger pump? if so it may be to big for the return line.
na it is still running the same pump.
the car was running fine up untill a week ago when it started blowing fuses..........
please somebody............![]()

It couldn't be something like a blockage in the return line could it?
the only thing i can think of is a blockage{restriction} in the return line somewere. you pump might have been blowing the fuse on overload.
hahaha were twins ben!
any ideas on how to check or get rid ov the blockage....
mmm an air compesser blowin thru the return???????
Try hooking up your return line to go into a bucket or something and check the rail pressure then. Make sure it is the problem.
also could be your fuel filter is soo blocked and dirty that it could be the blockage? causing higher pressure

A blocked fuel pump would cause higher pressure between the pump and the filter not not in the fuel rail itself.
fair enough, hmmm got nothing then, sorryOriginally Posted by Joshstix

hey buys any other ideas, i tested the fuel return and its all clear. it is also not the fuel pump that is the problem because i unpluged it and it still pops the fuse.
could it be the ecu.....![]()

have a look at the way you wired it up and that the cable hasnt got a bare section anywere! could be the ecu but i doudt it, as it dosnt happen often at all, its a toyota not holden!lol
over pressure
i think you will find if you put a big pump in that the return line is to small id from the fuel rail to the hard line. very small ID on the banjo swivel joints.
wht do you mean a bare section....?
it is still the standard pump in it so the return line should be fine....
bare section with cut insulation from pulling it threw bare metal ect.
if stock fuel pump something is restricting the return flow, either the fuel REGs or the return line somewere. its the only way you can have higher pressure
i have checked for shorts and it is all fine. ie with multimeter...
i have also tried three different fuel pressure regs including the stock one and they all have the same affect....
what options does that leave me with......
so how was the aftermarket fuel regs fitted to the rail?
