I tried to make some custom engine mounts to let a 4age bolt into a KE model crossmemeber with AE81/AE86 rubbers and I managed to do the dumb mistake of not checking clearence between the stud that comes out of the rubber mounts and the oil filter. Now after just about finishing I find that even the slimmest oil filter doesn't fit (aaarg!!). I would like some rubber engine mounts that have one side a stud to fit into the original position on the corolla crossmember and then either a shorter rubber and still a stud out of the other side or maybe something that has one of those FWD style safety mountings that has a bolt through a rubber filled bush. I am open to ideas.
I prefer something available from a car at the wreckers instead of having to buy something aftermarket as I will need to source a lot of these.
I have read that maybe TA22 mounts would work however I found that they in length of rubber with the plates and and the length of studs is quite identical to ae71
Hey mate,
On the topic,
I dont have what your looking for, but I am looking for what your making. Are you making these kits to sell?
I have tried to find someone who is making engine mount kits etc for putting a 4AGE into a KE20, but i've had no luck. I am hopeless with welding so I just want to buy it off someone.
If you get all this sorted, I will be interested for my KE20.
Regards,
JoJo

take a pic.
why not trim the stud?
as long as there is a couple mm of thread past the nut its ok
hello
yes these kits are the sale, that's why I was so frustrated when I had my failure. You see I had already made a twin position jig, bought the metal and cut them to size when I found my screw up.
However the Ke10 to the ke2x have different crossmembers and unless I get one as a sample I cant make you anything. I am still looking for someone local who is interested.

no negative apart from being a smaller market again. I really need a whole car but can you send me a pic of it to me regardless at sam @ s-86.com just remove the spacers
Engine mount number MT 8156N (urethane type) for a Ford.
36mm uncompressed, about 70mm diametre. Compresses to 33mm-34mm with my 125 ish kg 3sge.
Studs are about 38-40mm, just having measured them roughly in my car.
ok great thanks, I will do some research on what ford this out of, whose companys part number is it?
I don't recall the company, a common one though.
Got it at Repco from thier main book.
You have a PM.
It's 2mm flatter than the common Rover v8 ones sometimes used. I spend 1.5 hours looking in their engine mount book looking for the flattest mount.
yeah ok thanks heaps for your help
Have you looked at the Ryco web site? All the dimensions of oil filters including the threads are on it and you might find a stubby one to fit.
yeah thanks for the tip but no, it's pretty close.
