Hey all,
I just bought myself a AE82 Supercharged Twin Cam and need some help/advise on some things I need to fix to get a pink slip
1st issue is that when I put the car into reverse, no reverse lights come up. Now I have checked the globes which look fine. Now I presume when you chuck it in reverse, it must trigger a sensor or some sort, can anyone point me into the right direction what else to check??
2nd issue is no horn, now I guess I'm gonna have to head out to pick and payless to grab a horn (unless someone has a spare floating around which they don't need??) Anyway where does the bugger connect to (ie what colour plug and where is it located??)
Now come a couple of other issues I hope you people can help me with
1st Twin Cam Rev Tacho is not working at all, everything else works (Speed/Fuel and Temp Gauges) Now I got no idea where to start on this, car has a Aftermarket ECU fitted don't know if that makes a difference?? Any suggestions??
2nd When I had the car jacked up, I spun the RHS wheel and all I could hear was a grinding/clicking noise. Now I also presume the CV is cactus, what are the tell tale signs of a screwed CV?? If it is a CV, anyone got an idea of where I can get another CV from for cheap??
3rd For those of you who have a 4AGZE's in any corolla, what size exhaust systems do you have?? Looking at changing mine as it's very loud and very annoying as a daily, any help will be appreciated.
Cheers
First things first check ALL the fuses with a test light or multimeter.
There is a reverse sensor on the gearbox now it's either gonna be an earth trigger or a positive trigger
The horn has it got an aftermarket steering wheel?? if so check the wiring in behind the steering wheel to see if it's connected up properly and also check for power and earth triggers the horn should be hiding inside thefront bar area
Drive the car with a bit of speed and turn the car almost on full lock doing a u turn if there is cliocking noises then your CV's are stuffed
Cheers for your help TRD, I am thinking that the reverse sensor is the issue as it seems to be a common problem on all toyota makes
As for the horn, I just purchased the complete unit (horn and relay) from a guy wrecking a twin cam, the steering wheel is just the standard twin cam one, so I'm have to hopefully find the factory wiring and just connect it up to the relay.
