wheres the engine number?? 2E starlet engine

hey guys does anyone know where the engine number is stamped on a 2E motor in a ep71 toyota starlet??

On most toyota engines from memory the engine # is stamped on the block on fwds i am pretty sure if you are staring at motor from the front of the car on the right hand side just beneath the manifold and about an inch below wehre the head ends. check both sides as my memory is from inspecting damaged vehicles at an auction yard 5 + years ago and it could be fuel or exhaust side but thats where it was on echo's corolla's camry's etc (which sure seemed to get smashed alot)

I assume you are looking to see if its the original motor or not eg if it matched VIN plate and rego papers. see how u go but as i said on block just under manifolds maybe an inch below the head gasket usually

ok will check there shortly, just trying to find it so when i go over the pits on friday the guy doesnt get shat off looking for it and then get grumpy from the get go kinda thing

Easier i can make his job the better chance i have of passing lol

4E's have them on the front face of the engine block at bell housing just near exhaust manifold if that helps.
