Hello , my name is John , im from Greece

    here is my welcome gift

My English are not very good , so please forgive me for any mistakes

I was looking for informations about a Conversion that want to make .
    i have a 3S-FE engine is from a toyota camry (87)
its a FWD and i want to use it for RWD , is any one know wηat type of bellhousing i have to use ? (to fit on 3s-fe whith out conversions,im gond any conversions after bellhousing
(and is the bellhousing the only i need ?)

i can cut the bellhousing , but i dont want to destroy the FWD transmision
thats why im looking for RWD bellhousing.

im gona use a unusual transmision , from unimog
here you can see my all plan http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=773430
    (comments are welcome)

I Confused you ? so here is my question again :
that type of RWD bellhousing can fit on 3S-FE , and is the bellhousing the only i need ?
(no matter about transmision , i only need RWD bellhousing )

I hope you can understund me
Please if you know something about , tell me

Not sure on what gearbox you are looking at using but the rwd 3s bellhousings that are suitable are the ones behind a 2s, 3y, 4y, 1c motor.

If you are looking at cutting the bellhousing as it seems you are and grafting on whatever transmission you have then wouldn't it be easier to just cut the fwd one? Surely it would be easier to find in Greece anyway? Just buy a old stuffed fwd box and cut that.

G'day John and welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a great project. Gotta love the Unigom's. A mate of mine in the USA has one of these, what an awesome machine
As Stidnam has listed all these belhousings will fit behind the 3SFE engine. I would prefer to use the Y series (3Y,4Y) bellhousing as this puts the starter motor on the intake side of the engine away from the exhaust. You will also need the 4Y starter motor and sandwich plate. The top left hand side bellhousing bolt hole will need to be elongated to fit but the other three holes line up perfectly.

Thank you very much for your time

stidnam you are rignt io have to find an old transmision if finaly make the cut .
im gona see that is easiest to find (and econmical)
    can i keep the same flywheel & clutch-kit whith one of 2s, 3y, 4y, 1c hellousing ?

    Bazooka
    Yes i like unimogs , i had a bigger in the past.(406)
This now is a small & slow one (411), this is why i want to change engine , i dont choose the 3sfe , it comes like gift to me , dont but it.
    After this i search and i see that is stronger (120? hp & 170? n/m) of the unimogs diesel engine (type OM636 1700cc with 32 HP & 100 n/m)
(Are my infos about 3sfe rower rigth ?)

I understund what you say about 4Y starter motor and sandwich plate but i dont know if the flywheel must be changed (maybe clutch-kit too)

Im not sure how it gona run after all , i cant found any dyno test of the 3sfe , but i see tha a 404 unimog use a 2.2L (6 cylindres petrol engine )
whith 85Hp & 130 n/m and run fine (run i mean work , hi speed is not inportant )

The transmision of the unimog that im gona use (stidnam) is a 6 gears whith low ratio
(15:1 for 1st and 1:1 for 6th its look like this
    http://www.spacecowboys.org/files/un...ion_rehaul.jpg
it cant be changed becoase the axles are < based > on it
    http://www.moginalong.co.uk/OurMog/I...ticulation.jpg
the all vehicle must be change - not worth

another one idea is to use the unimogs bellhousing & flywheel & clutch-kit and try to fit on 3sfe,
but im not sure how easy it will be , and i think no one tryed before , to give me infos

Im a bit confused. Thank you very much for helping me

    John

The 3SFE flywheel should mesh with the 4Y starter motor no problem. They have the same diameter ring gear. The early 3SGE is the same but changed with the larger clutch on the later 3SGE engines.

If you are going to all that trouble you would be best to use the FWD bellhousing. That way you know that it bolts to your 3SFE, and you can use the clutch, flywheel and starter motor from the 3SFE as well.
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....
