Looking for some info from the 2TG guru's.
I have a 2TG engine which I took from a euro spec TA23 GT.
Head is an 88260 with single valve spring's, 88222 cam's and carb's (PHH 40's). It's all factory standard.
I know that the 260 heads got fuel injection. They also got double valve springs at some stage during the production run (about July 1977).
I am interested to know if the cams were changed during the 260 production run and if so what to? Was there such a thing as 88260 cam's or did they use the 88261 cam's?
maybe someone change 222 cams, because more timing and lift, also single springs have higher seat pressure... they really are single ? not double without inner springs ?
and carbs from 222![]()
222 is most powerfull stock 2TG engine. maybe there is 222 9.8CR pistons also ?

The engine with 260 head came from the factory with the 222 cams.Originally Posted by J-M kujala
Definitely single springs. The spring seat and retainer are for single springs.
Carbs are the same as for 222 head.
9.8 CR pistons.
Checked the euro parts manual and this confirms that virtually all the TA23's with 260 heads had all the same parts as TA23's with 222 heads. Only difference was last month of production in July 1977 when the 260 heads got double valve springs.
Change from 222 to 260 head was in January 1977.
so those are "mixed" in toyota factory, first they got new desing head, then change cams springs .....never know that

Did your 260 heads have fuel injection or carbs?Originally Posted by J-M kujala
I'm thinking 260 heads with fuel injection got 260 cams and 260 heads with carbs got 222 cams.
When was 261 head introduced - date and engine number?

Unused stud hole on 260 head intake side - behind carb balance pipe.
