After blowing the head gasket in my 1G-GZE, I'm into my first head removal, so forgive me a noob question or 10.
I have disassembled down to the camshafts, and removed all the inlet and exhaust gear.
What's next?
And can you be a bit descriptive in what comes out and how you would do it?
Thanks,
Mitch.

well next remove the cam shafts and put them in order somewhere, do this by removing the head caps off them in a outward spiral start in the middle and spiral out. then you can start removing the head studs same spiral pattern as above. example i have done it heaps with 4age engines so i will use that as a example
inlet side
8 4 1 6 9
7 3 2 5 10
exhaust side
and replace them in the same order when you are puting them back in
Sorry to be a pain. You must undo the camshaft caps evenly! I have actually broken a qaulity tomei camshaft from undoing the cam caps unevenly. This mistake cost me $600. Although it had heavy springs and all the jazz, the spring pressure loading one end of a camshft is enough to break it! So its good practice to undo them evenly so the cam is loaded evenly across the caps.
So, wether you start in the middle or at the end. Undo each bolt one full turn at a time in seqeunce. To get terribly picky, there is a optimum position for the cam where the springs will be more relaxed so you can undo the caps. This is probably un nessacary in this case tho.
Its always a good idea to keep things clean and in order to minimise potentical fuckups.
