    Hi,
Can someone tell me where to find the engine number on a 1g block?

    Thanks,

    Gidday

Tell the ferret that on Gen 1/2 the number is on the lhs under the inlet mainfold. On Gen 3 it is still on the lhs but on the casing that connects to the bellhousing (near the starter motor).

Took all day to train the ferret , so didn't get time to look so we'll do it in the morning.
    Hmmm....it's a gen3, so i'll keep my fingers crossed.
I'll let you all know the result tomorrow night!

    I Found it!!

It's on that flat machined bit under the starter.

If it's dirty, be careful though! If you rub it with 800 wet and dry five or six times, i think you might rub it off.
Looks like someone with a limp wrist stamped it on using a ripe tomato for a hammer.

Well that was piss easy compared to finding the number on the early blocks! In car you need a mirror, torch, and the suple body of a young female contortionist to see the fester!
