hey all,
been running a 2nd hand clutch out of a ma61 (225mm flywheel and matching stock clutch) and ive given it a good burning a few times and i think its on its last legs.
im abit lost when it comes to choosing whats clutch would suit my needs, i'd like something with a bit more bite than the OME one i have but not enough to make it a pain to drive (its already a huge pain already) but something i can give a good kick too and not burn so easy.
this will be used on my NA 6MGE with w57 and locked diff (temp till i can get a 1.5way) and see mostly traffic/daily driving with some time spent drifting each week untill i get my uzz10 going then it will be used for tow.
should i also upgrade my flywheel, i woulnt mind keeping to a close to stock weight flywheel but for thoes in the know, what would be better for the 6M... after market chrome moly or aluminum flywheel, maybe a larger oem 7m na flywheel or something else?
allup if i got a new fly and clutch kit i'd be looking to spend a max of 500 as well...![]()

take your stock clutch to your local clutch place and get them to rebuild it
a mate of mine did that with his 1jz pushing 330rwkws,
he drives his freakin hard and its stood up to all he can give it, when my cusco hyper single goes, thats what iam doing![]()
would end up around the $500 mark

I think your driving style will make it hard for any full face clutch to stand up (bar twin plate).
It will be harder to drive, but HTFU?

well i was planing on a 7M, i'd rather keep the same weight clutch or maybe a bit heaver to help in sliding (the last thing i need is the 6m to rev more freely cuz i hit red line as it is.) but the 225 5me fly is just waaaayyy to small to bother to be rebuilt.
i expected it to be harder to drive but i didnt want a on/off kinda clutch but i guess i got my celicaxx gt clutch pedal that will help alittle.
might give thoes guy at stones corner a ring at lunch time and see what they say![]()
after driving on a stock clutch, exedy cusion button, hks twin plate, and a cusco hyper single ( in that order ) i really do see the importance of a good clutch, especially for drifting work.
i would never go back to anything with a long friction point, and crap take up,
the last two clutches ive had have been unbelievable ( allthough the twin plate was increadibly harsh ) and well worth the money if u have it

theres quite a few options of rebuilding the setup i have now, it doesnt sound on the cheep side but it sould suit what i want it for to a tee.
he was saying using different pressure plates like ca18, bmw ones, or 260z ones... so should be good.
so i guess, if anyone has a spare M flywheel and clutch set up laying around that they dont need i'd like to take it off there hands so i dont have to pull my car apart till i get the new one in or...
buy a new daily as the soarer is the only car i got on the road atm :S
