Hey mate, i'm unsure if there is a factory electric sender.. But i recall 'sideshow' on these forums carrys aftermarket ones and should be able to help out.

Shouldn't need anything else apart from the sender and speedo of course.. Some wiring in between

    Cheers

i know the z20 soarers have an electric sender in the W58, doubt your ever going to find a spare around though as alot of people want them for their soarers.

I'm using one at the moment.
    Its from a Crown UZS131.
I'm using it on a UZZ30 Soarer dash.
The pulses per rev are way out, so I'm buying a speedo healer to fix it, but it works a charm.

I have a spare one if you get stuck.

If you are buying a guage, buy the speedo sender thats designed for the guage.
No speedo healer should be needed then.

It will make life simpler, and I'd be worried if they didn't make a sender to suit Toyota's.

Look at places like rocket industries, as they make these senders so holden and ford bogans can put the W5x boxes into thier SH*boxes. Should be reasonable on the pocket too as they are a popular/common item.

just get 2nd hand ones off any toyota gbox

i have the 20 pulse type 2nd hand i have afew

i have a 4 pulse one but it might be stuffed

i do have brand new 4 pulse type if u want

toyota only use 2 types 20 or 4 pulse

so if u r runing a toyota factoryu speedo u just need one of these

if speedo is way to fast u must have a 20 pulse
    so u need a 4

but i have come across on an early soarer the speedo works on and off so im not sure if its a speedo prob
afew digital speedo ive come across have small niggly problems

nissan and toyota have same thread on the sensors unless its an import nissan which have the speedo sensor and drive in one unit
same with late model holdens with a manual gbox have similar thread

most nissans have 2 wire sensors 8 or 16 pulses per rev
toyota have 3 wire sensors 20 or 4 pulse per rev
aussie skylines or pintaras had 3 wire sensors with 10 pulses oer rev

i have a database of sdensors and their pulses which i tested one day at sss when i was bored hehe

i also sell new sdpeedo sensors with 2 4 8 or 16 pulses per rev
    these are 3 wire sensors

    3 wire have digital signal
    2 wire have analog signal

i have speedo recalibrators or adjusters for speedometers with 3 wire sensors
    most toyotas they cost 220

if u want speedo recalibrator/adjuster for a nissan 2 wire speedo then the unit is 330 bucks

i also have a gps which i use to recalibrate speedos

a guy whos fitting a 1j into a skyline rang me for wiring quote
he didnt want the speedo or tacho done just to save money

to get speedo accurate he would need the dearer box at 330 bucks
this is so it goes from 3 wire toyota sender to the nissan 2 wire speedo

alot fo people doin conversions dont think about making the gauges accurate

this is why sometimes my prices seem dearer
in the end if i do the complete job its cheap
if someone has done the job and then comes to me to fix these problems
it costs alot more for me to just do this

anyway if anyone wants parts or needs to convert from one to another or needs tacho boosters just call me on 0415 904 947 and ill see what i have

my web site will be changed soon with a new parts page
i have to go work in perth next week so too busy to do stuff now

holy crap.. after a response that long... there's only one question i have... you ever been laid??? lol... okay serious.. thanks a million, very helpful

as for getting a sender unit with the gauge i buy, i had thought about that, but wasn't sure if you got a gauge to suit a factory sender, or the gauge came with the sender...

another question, anyone suggest a brand of gauges with a selection of 2, 3 and 4" gauges, all in the same style? i've seen speco, and autometer, but they don't ahve all the ones i want in the same style.. what about metric speedo's too? any suggestions?

any aftermarket electronic speedo can be cal;ibrated many times
so doesnt really matter what sender unit u have as long as its either analog or digital signal
