Hi i am after an intercooler and just wanting to know which one would be best.
Whats a good brand ?
Any help would be apreciated.
yeah, there's a specific question
what's your budget? justjap coolers are under $200... go HKS, ARE etc and you're looking at the $1k price range.
What engine/boost? the more boost you're running, the better quality cooler you're going to want to support that
just jap/ebay coolers are bang for your buck,....
just get a HKS stencil n spray it on, lol
blake
This is a bit like asking which car is the best.
How do you define "best"? What are your goals, your expectations, your budget? Far more information is required before you will get a meaningful answer.

He has a 4agte. Either in a Ke10 or an AE92.
I guess either way you will need to make up the piping that you need, check out ARE they look like they know what they are on about. They also have some tech info on there website too.

4agte ... id say a justjap cheapy would work fine. only opinion though.![]()

you could get a just jap cheapy, cut the tanks off, improve the airs entry into the core, then put better tanks on?
or pay abotu the same to have a decent one without needing mods?
(or acid dip the core)

And would the benefit even be measurable on a typical 4A-GTE?Originally Posted by oldcorollas

that said, blitz is good for me.. pinching the intercooler off an XR6 turbo falcon for a GZE running 6 psi is good enough for me.... apparently intercoolers from a Saab motor is really good for flow and pressure..
but do a search around toymods and the intahweb and u'll note that there are three different typs of intercoolers (2 actually..).. bar and plate, tube and fin, and the all incredible truck intercoolers... note what u're after, stealth, top mount, front mount.. then how much psi and flow you're chasing... then ask around the good and knowledgable people of toymods, and get a rough idea of an adequate size recommended for your application..
after all that, u'll realise brand has nothing to do with it.. it's more size, design of the core and tanks that truly make an intercooler "good"...
that or if u didn't get a word of what i just typed, bigger and more expensive and shinier, the better![]()

Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
just plumb the turbo directly into the plenum... best flow possible that way.
...... butt scratcher?!
and put a wrx scoop on it to cool the cam covers... voila!

Okay sorry for this i already have a front mount on my car now but its a cheapie and I want to upgrade to a better quality cooler . I want to run around 14 psi .
edit - what vios is trying to ask is: "whats wrong with the performance of your current cooler that makes you want to upgrade?"
vios: no need to continue being a smartass...![]()

So what exactly is wrong with your existing cooler? What improvements to you expect from a "better quality" cooler?Originally Posted by chrismiass
If you want to run 14psi, that's fuckall. A so-called cheapie won't have a problem with that, so again - why do you want to upgrade?

Measure pre and post intercooler charge temps.
Measure pre and post intercooler boost levels.
Then you can tell if it is sufficient.
I agree with Norbie. I have an el cheopo cooler and have run up to 22psi briefly. Seemed to work fine![]()
Get a stocko Soarer cooler. they are thick as all hell and small. People have made 220RWKW in a soarer 2.5 twin turbo with the stock cooler. You can prob pick one up or around $40 or something. Clean it up and your laughing.
But I guess it depends on what you already have, if you have a chinese cheap copy already, then it prob wont be much of an upgrade
