Default Microtech LT10s 20v silvertop wiring help

    Hey guys,

In the process of wiring in the microtech into my ra65 with a 4age 20v silvertop turbo..

Engine is already running COP's and previously running off the stock ECU. Ive wired everything according to the diagrams i found on the microtech site, but have no spark or injector pulse when cranking so missing a primary signal to the ECU.

Just wondering if theres anyone out there that have done this ECU-engine and can shed some light as to what ive missed...really want to get the celica running once more!

    Thanks in advance

    look inside your dizzy
    there is 4 wires
I think white is common so that's ground
then u have the sensor which is pickup for the 24 teeth
    think that's crank sig 1

then u have 2 pickups for the signal pulse
try each one of these if it backfires like dizzy is 180 out then try the other one
    its pretty simple

I assumed it was a crank signal i needed to pick up i just wasnt sure whether i was taking it from the trigger on the coil or the dizzy.

So im using the signal wire from the dizzy and that should be all? Thanks for the reply btw

do u have a hand controller too
so u can read abit of data mainly to see if your rpm is around 200 rpm when cranking

also is the microtech for a 20v

No don't have a hand controller. Bought it off someone on ebay that had it running in his 20v and has a base map for it so i was going to get it running with that then get it tuned

The joys of buying second hand ecus hehehe

U need to see if u have spark or injector pulse
Need to see what your rpm is

Yea i checked beforehand no spark or injector pulse thats how i know its missing that crank signal...

Just hoping the ecu works otherwise it will be brand new aftermarket when i can be bothered getting it up to scratch and ready. As i probably can't drive it for another year, if not more, im not in a rush to finish it lol but i would love to get it running again...

U need the hand controller to see what rpm u getting
Is the orange light on the side of microtech flashing as u crank engine
Maybe just pull dizzy off and turn ign on and spin dizzy by hand so your not wasting battery power
Then u can play with dizzy wiring
I know white is common ground so u have two sensor wires left left so won't take long t get right

I can't remember if it was flashing while i cranked i know it had power...do you mean to read what rpm the ecu think its at? Because i can hook up my multimeter to read the rpm.

As for removing the dizzy, impossible without removing motor or rocker cover and cap holding it in haha theres no room back there. I can get to the plug though so ill have a fiddle around with those 2 wires you mentioned. Should hopefully get a chance to work on it tomorrow providing it doesnt get too hot!

Not 100% sure on microtech but I would suspect to run multi coil on it you will need 3 wires from the dist,
Signal Earth, Crank signal and Cam signal ???

Doesnt need to run multi-coil, its a waste spark setup with the COP's, so they're all firing off the one signal from the dizzy...i need cooler weather to stay outside on a weekend and work on it -.- this hot weathers bull!

so u r running all 4 coils firing at same time?
why not actually save some cash and do it properly
    like 4 coils direct fire

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the standard distributor has a 24 tooth wheel and a single tooth wheel,

You cant run an engine of a one tooth signal driven at cam speed as when to fire the coil would be complete guesswork,

and with a 24 Tooth signal how does it tell which pulse is what, as you will get one pulse at TDC when it should fire the coil,
another 30 deg later, then 60 deg, then again when the next cylinder is at TDC and should be fired,
so how does it tell which ones to fire the coil on and which ones not too?

I know the early link's we ground a dist down to have only 4 teeth so it will run with only a 2 wire pickup,
but if it still has all 24 teeth, you still need a cam signal to decode it, no matter what type of ign system you are running ???

Well don't take this as a foolproof system or that im correct, when i had it running off the standard ecu and waste spark COP system the coil fired all spark plugs 4 times per single revolution of the engine.

Because of the sequential injection the stock ecu must have a way of deciding which injecter gets it at what position in revolution and i must be guessing the way the microtech works is the same? Thats what im hoping for anyway.

I did have to wire in all 4 injecters to seperate wires in the microtech, so it must somehow distribute it somehow...how, however, im unsure of. I wanted to set up the crank singnal, crank it and see what result i got pretty much haha and was hoping it would act similar to the stock ecu...

I don't know enough about the microtech ecu to know how it works and what needs to be done besides the basic wiring. Thanks for the input! Any information is welcomed

You need to find out how it was wired up in the old car.
Microtech triggering settings/setup can't be changed by the user.

If i were you i would sell the piece-of-shit Microtech, and buy a decent modern (not 20yr old tech like the Microtech is) ECU.
