sort of the same, all share the same mount and different to most toyota's 6pk belt, plugs can be different and i think amps a different between na and turbo.

i just got a 2j one for my z20 with jza70 loom. so i need to swap plugs.

End of the day if your doing a conversion yeh there the same, you can buy conversion adapter plugs for like 20$ if the Barnes had the wrong style plug

ive already done a conversion years ago but seems mine is stuffed and not charging. i can get my hands on a 1j one easy enough but wasnt sure if the wiring etc was the same. i figured it would bolt up the same as the 2j.

JusT rebuild it, there the easiest alternators in the world to rebuild, the regulator and brush pack are only held in with screws, take it apart and inspect it, either the brushes are stuffed out the regulator will be faulty, its like 50$ in parts

1j & 2j are swappable. 7M will fit too with a spacer and a bit of filing
