well we have a 1jz and we are buying a 2jzge to steal the block from
so once the 1.5j is done we will have a 2jzge head and 1jz block which we were thinking might go together
doing that i would think maybe with a slight shave of the head and thinner head gasket could make a semi decent Na 1jz or could leave compression low and use a 2jzge turbo kit so basically a 1.3jz?

it could definalety be done, to put a 2jz head on a 1jz block you dont need to do the oil modification.

how strong are you expecting that n/a bottom end to be outta curiousity?.. what boost and what turbo you intend to run?

i dont even know what its going in yet so no turbo chosen, the only difference between turbo and non turbo 2jz is oil squarters (which with alot of forged aftermarket pistons need to be removed anyway) oil pump which i have swapped and pistons. pistons between turbo and non turbo look pretty well the same its only the compression that is different and most of the compression is raised with thinner head gasket. so i would have no worries putting 600-700rwhp through this motor.

so aftermarket gear for GTE ie pistons and rods would bolt straight in and wouldnt protrude the block?.. gotta love toyota interchangebility =)

timing belt time, you can see in the pics the backing plate behind the gears has two marks, line the cams up with it and the trigger wheel for the crank sensor has a mark on it where it lines up with a mark on the oil pump.

ballancer and timing cover on (bought a new timing cover from toyota $65 as mine was cracked)

    intake a throttle body on

also bought a 2jz bypass pipe which is longer than the 1jz one but dont have a water outlet for the head so will need to find one before i can confirm that the 2jz bypass fits

on driftmotion it sez to use a 2jz one when building a 1.5jz.. so you might be in luck there

hi guys, i am about to embark on the exact same combo as this but i have one small question/theory regarding the oil gallery.
if u were to use a 1jz head gasket, i dont see how it would make any difference welding up/drilling the gallery. the gasket is still the same, the cavity that the oil travels through still has the same thin wall and minimal pressure holding it the gasket down near the edge, i dont see the process helping at all unless u were to use a 2jz gasket. anybody understand what im on about, thoughts?
also, the difference in pistons 2jzgte and 2jzge. is it a different sized dish? or different pin height?
also what timing covers do u use? 1jzgte or 2jzge?

totally agree with the oil hole theory if using 1jz gasket
As for timing covers, 2jz lower 1jz upper.

Sleepercorty, I see u are using adjustable exhaust wheel... Is that to adjust the stock cam or have u got aftermarket cams, what's the advantage if u are using stock cams? What setting do u use? And why only the exhaust?
