    Default identifying Dyna BU36 gearbox.

hi guys. i have a '77 F100 with a 4BT cummins in it. i am loking for some more gears and an od. i was looking at trying to make the trusty H55F 2wd. while speaking to a wrecker he suggested a Dyna gearbox.

it looks just like the H55F but with just a handbrake drum on the back. i didn't physically try it but the lid looks remarkably the same.

is the gearbox an H55 ? can someone tellme what it is ? i looked for it, but couldn't find the little plate with the engine/gearbox/diff info on it.

i guess the real question is the H5X series like the W5X series ? where they're interchangeable but with some different ratios ?

I was under the impression that the 'H' boxes were actually H151 and H150, similar numbers to the 'R' boxes.

Quick search, and apparently there is a H55 as well as H150/151.

    MASSIVE gearbox.

the H55F is the 60/75 series 'cruiser box. it has a cast iron case. that box in the photo looks like an 80 ser.one.
