    Default reprogramming a delco ecu

where can i find software and info for reading and reflashing a delco ecu

still on the search for a cheap ecu to run ignition only and thought this might be worth investigation as an ecu can be bought for about $30

i know the majority of them can be reprogrammed and the ones from VN or similar will be MAP sensor read

hey i had quite a good look into doing this a while back, ill see if i can find all the links and info. as far as i remember you buy this programming board that programs the eeprom for delco and them download free software that allows you to retune the settings.
some sort of multichip programming board with jumper settings for different chips and voltage requirements. have a look on ebay there was a really popular board setup from "dark" someone or the other.

its not the best interface but useable, im sure there was a big forum on
delco ecus and programmng them. 808 comes to mind like freight train,
i think that was the particular ecu from camiras which is the one to use, so ill dig it up for you.

there was one big advantage from delco, some sort of fuel feature that
allowed economic running, supposedly gm spent millions refining it or something...

i think for me it was a competition between using the delco or megasquirt setup - the megasquirt has a HUGE following and many helpful people on their forum, and then i discovered adapatronic which also has all sorts of features too and seemed a much easier, better route to go.

all of this is off the top of my head and may not be entirely correct but its food for thought anyway

You don't really need the Kalmaker stuff.

Just grab an EPROM burner ($60 of ebay) and an eraser ($50 again) and tune with software such as : http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/ (some screenshots here : http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/screenshots.htm)

You can even datalog using a ALDL cable : http://w1.601.telia.com/~u60113744/s...dl/winaldl.htm

i only mentioned kalmaker cos when it first came out it was under $500, it worked, and there was no security shit on it.... but they cottoned onto people copying it etc pretty quick...

looking promising, that pulsar forums thread is great ......all 19 pages!!!

found free software that looks very good - tuner pro

all i need is an eeprom burner ($40 ebay) and a replacement eeprom to use instead of the standard eprom, which is just a $10 ic chip from the likes of jaycar,

problem is which compatable one to use...any ideas?

then its a matter of dumping the data from the old infra-red eprom onto the software (or downloading a new one) making the relivent adjustments and reloading it onto the new electroic eeprom, which can then be reused over and over quickely and easily, for any subsequint changes and tuning

PRESTO!! a fully programmable (and incredibly powerful) ecu for under $100

theres a little more to it like fitting an ic plug etc. and theres no live tuning as i yet see, it will datalog once you get a bit more involved

    Cheers

I'm currently putting a Megasquirt into an old N13 Pulsar that I'm supercharging. I looked into modding the Delco ECU, or using a Jaycar DFA... but the Megasquirt came out on top when it comes to fun DIY factor and its a little easier to use than the Delco.

The Delco can still do everything, but the interface with the 100s of tables gets a bit confusing and I don't have any of the EPROM burning/erasing/emulating stuff.
